I think it would be fun to add a female variant the the Ogryn class in Darktide. From searching “how do Ogryns reproduce,” I think the internet has assured me that Ogryns, being abhumans, are not so genetically dissimilar that they reproduce differently, so Shegryns should exist
( including a hypothesis that Shegryns look exactly the same as Brogryns; so they are in 40K games, just no one noticed), so there is no lore issue … I think?
I want to say additionally though, if Fatshark ever does add Shegryn variants, I personally would not like to see a “supermodel” Ogryn. I would like proper Ogryn, some teeth poking out from under bites, prodigious foreheads, and a noticeable lack in the diversity of abstract thought.
There’s not really anything specific either way from reading the Wiki, but it’s logical to conclude Ogryns reproduce biologically otherwise they would’ve died out.
“Thousands of standard years in the harsh terrains and brutal living conditions of their prison worlds after the start of the Age of Strife caused the fall of the first interstellar civilisation of Mankind forced their ancestors’ bodies to adapt to their hostile environment by growing in size and strength, though at the cost of intellectual development”
Honestly “Ogryns are a result of chaos corruption interfering with genetic code and as such they are rounded up by Black Ships, forced into a life of servitude through combat to “atone” for the blight” makes more sense. The Imperium is a very dark empire.
