Add the missing Weapon skin cosmetics please

Just as the title suggests, I think FS should take a minute and add the weapon skins that I believe are missing from the game. Specifically weapon skins that are non-premium. All the weapons should have at least their night and fire waste camos, moebian 6th, and for the truly tryhard players moebian 53rd skins.

You are truly asking for the unthinkable here.
It will rain in Hel before they consider offering players cosmetics/skins we do not have to pay for with real life money.

The Commissary has been dusting down since release. Fatshark has shown through their actions that they do not care or prioritise giving players the opportunity to unlock things through gameplay progression or purchasing special skins with in-game currency.

And no, don’t you guys dare name-drop The Path to Redemption or the standard character progression. In the grand scheme of things, it offers absolutely nothing of substance cosmetics-wise. It is by all means: tragical.

Noted, but not impossible. If I wanted impossible, I would ask for Troths and Felinids.

It’s really bizarre that they don’t even just have a lot of premium weapon skins available. Only like . . . four per class at a time? That’s just ridiculous.

Yeah, as much as I despise the abandonment of the Commissary, whole premium weapon skin packs that include a certain design for all weapons (or all ranged/melee/class weapons) would be nice.

I don’t think they’ve added a single commissary cosmetic in years. None that I can remember since last September when I was complaining about this.

I feel like having a blue and a red skin for every mark of every weapon should be the goal. It sounds like a big ask, but we’re only talking about recoloring a bunch of pre-existing texture files. (I mean, I think. I’m not a graphic artist.) Like it might take a while and wouldn’t be very interesting but I doubt it would need a whole new pipeline or anything.

But cosmetics are one of the ways they make money, surely they won’t want to spend time on some customization options that might make players less likely to shell out for the chance to make their weapon shinier, right?
Okay fine, let’s all put on our cynical hats. Even working on this assumption, having some skins be clearly missing is bad for the game as a whole. This was the point of my previous thread’s title. It’s really unpolished. It feels like it’s unfinished. That doesn’t inspire confidence in people just coming into the game and looking around at what’s available. Nothing for the bolt pistol, shock maul, double barrel shotgun, ogryn shovel, grenade gauntlet, and all four of the new Arbites exclusive weapons. This feels almost condescending. I feel like that’s more likely to turn players off paying for cosmetics than motivate them to pay to look cooler. POLISH IS IMPORTANT.

If you really need a way to make money off of more cosmetics, you could have an Expanded Commissary License that costs premium currency, and it lets you buy (with dockets) colors and camo patterns beyond just the blue and red. Maybe dress it up as Lady Alice letting us buy from her back room deal stock or something.

It gets worse. The blue and red cosmetics are already made (idk about Arbites weapons but definitely for all the missing ones).

Fatshark just refuses to add them. Because Fatshark is either incompetent or greedy.

But, they need to get money.

They need to pay servers, workers, etc.

BUT… MAYBE… they coul do something more. IDK

More DLC in the future maybe. Was definitely caught off guard when they announced Arbiter, since everybody has been speculating an Admech class, but it was nice change of pace. How much do you think they made off the Arbiter DLC anyway? They should have made enough to give us a nice trinket for the next anniversary event at least.

…okay, you need to explain to me how failing to add something basic they’ve already made to the store that exists to provide earnable cosmetics already is going to evaporate their cosmetics profits.

i don’t want to call anyone lazy or incompetent without knowing the real reasons. they seem to add things in fewer, bigger patches that also have to be approved by microsoft and sony, and idk in what part by gw. but anyway, the pace can be quite glacial. i remember how the double shotgun had been sitting in the files for 9 months before it got released, and the plague ogryn with cannons has been there since release i read? that’s some facepalm-worthy things…

Honestly, I don’t even know why everybody keeps asking for that, as the red ones at least look horrendous. Blues are probably too, but they have lesser visibility so easier on your eyes. If they want to monetize looks, they really should expand both free and paid stocks. People start to be interested in looks when there is a certain culture to create ones within community - and for that you need to have at least some basic tools (free, nice looking customizations, a lot of them). Then they can sell even better looking versions for premium currency and much more people will be willing to buy.

you need to explain to me how failing to add something basic they’ve already made to the store that exists to provide earnable cosmetics already is going to evaporate their cosmetics profits.

I can. It’s a common marketing trick. So, look, you are relatively new player and you open a store from time to time. You see a particular item that looks not bad, it’s also seems to be “on sale” which ends in a day, then it will be gone for some time, until available again. And may be you won’t notice it next time, or it won’t be on sale? Tough decision, and so you decide to buy it.

Then you check the store next day - and see even better item which effectively (you think) is just ideal to your planned look, you need it now! it also makes the item you bought a day before obsolete, because it takes the same slot and much more attractive (to your eye). You are sad and angry - but still decide to buy the 2nd item too, because it will rotate in 2 weeks and who knows when you see it again?

Now what would happen if you could browse their full stock freely? Right, you wouldn’t buy the 1st item at all, you would only need the 2nd one. Even if at the moment only item 1 would be available (or on sale) - you still would decide to give it a pass, and wait for the item 2. That’s less profits for FS.

P.S.

It also helps to spread expenses more evenly across their stock. With looks, you never know if what you create will be a hit or miss. Some customizations will be much more popular than the others - while still requiring about the same effort to create them. But you still waste some time of your visual artists to develop the later, which don’t sell that well if people know there are better options they just need to wait for. If they don’t know though, they will be more prone to buy the worse ones (because they are still better than free ones) - and thus RoI will be better for those. You just could make the more good-looking one to be more expensive - but price can only go so and so high before it will cause outrage or people will stop buying it. Instead, you just trick them into buying the worse one, problem solved, they’ll still most likely buy the better one later too, because it’s, like, better.

you know what the sad solution to this is? not buy anything, the only way to show that customers don’t like being treated like fools.

Nah, only tiny percent of the game’s audience spend any substantial time on forums and think about such things. The rest just come and go, play game (this and several others) and sometimes purchase shiny things. They won’t change their ways and don’t think much about it.

You’re explaining FOMO, not why the existing free cosmetics store hasn’t been updated with all two of the skin types it has for the new weapons, which have already been made.

Because there isn’t a good explanation for it that doesn’t devolve to ‘Fatshark is either incompetent or so astronomically greedy they refuse to give people skins they already spent money on having made solely to slightly encourage a tiny amount of possible future profit’.

Kinda unlikely, as those free skins are rather crappy ones, really. I think I have only one look where I use the red one, it looks awkward on most weapons. And quite honestly, most of the premium skins are boring and not really that desirable, for me at least. The problem here seems to be is that they lack in artistic department, or really hoped they could invest little effort into looks and then profit (doesn’t work that way, people who care about looks enough to pay RL money for them DO really care about looks, so they want something that is flashy, standing out, cool, refreshing. Not just mediocre “evil grim dark armor” slop)
