TLDR: I cannot play the game due to incredibly long load times after selecting an operative. I’ve tried several attempts, including restarting my computer, over the course of one hour to no avail. After I
pick an operative, it stays loading endlessly.
System specs:
Windows 10
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Processor
24gb RAM, 12gb VRAM
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
Game installed on HD.
I’m from Brazil, GMT -3.
Issue:
I quite like Darktide and I’ve played it for a few dozen hours so far. One of the issues I’ve constantly had though, was the long load times. I do not know if this is a server issue (my internet connection is fine) or client issue, considering my game is installed in an HD and not an SSD, but still. All the times I played I’ve had 2-10 minute long wait times until I could be finally on the main hub. It’s not too frustrating, so I never tought about writing a complaint. However I would still like to know why this happens, and before anyone does ask about it, my SSD is out of space, and even then that does not
sound like a satisfactory answer to this problem.
But my problem got intensified now. These last days I’ve had much longer load times, 2-5 minutes of wait before picking an operative and 5-30 minutes afterwards. And today, it doesn’t even load past the operative selection. I just cannot play the game, and since it’s not a crash I can’t even
upload crash information. Some more relevant details: I have a friend, from the same place I live, that has recently gotten the game. They appear to not have had the same issue as me. I’ve also played quite a bit of vermintide and never had similiar issues.
Sorry to hear this - I’ve shared your report with our developers.

Thank you very much for aknowledging. The endless load time disappeared on the next day, but I still have to deal with unconfortably long load times. Have a good day!
Your 24GB of RAM, is it a 16GB stick + 8GB?
if so can you remove the 8GB and see how it loads?
Turning the PC off and disconnecting it of course.
Yes, it is a 16 + 8. But to be honest I’d rather not have to mess with my hardware to solve this.
Yeah I just saw you had it on a HDD as well, its gonna be slow regardless if you optimize your RAM’s performance. Hopefully loading performance does improve over time and patches since sometimes its somewhat slow for others with great rigs as well.
After a while, I got tired of the really long load times (up to 20 minutes sometimes) so I did some sacrifices to fit it in my SSD. Turns out nothing changed - or at least very little. Overall load times seem a little bit better, but the huge load time after picking an operative remains.
I’m gonna gamble my plasteel here on a firewall setting somewhere between your pc in Brazil and the vm you’re being pushed to.
Out of curiosity, try using a vpn (I dunno, let’s say Norton if you have it) to connect somewhere in Amsterdam , and go again.
That sounds like a likely issue! Unfortunately I don’t have a VPN to try that
Just wanted to say I’ve run into this as well quite often lately. It almost seems server side; if I turn the game off and come back to it even 15min later, it usually resolves itself.
Never had this issue until recently, and only happens if character selection (not returning to the Mourningstar from anything else).
If anyone’s still following this thread, I’d like to add that the past few days this issue seems solved. Hopefuly it’s fixed!
This maybe a bad time… but I’ve noticed quite some time ago, that if during the same session (by session I mean not turning off and on your PC) first DT boot takes a long time, but after that anytime I turn on and off DT it starts within 3-4 minutes (from start to landing on Mourningstar). I considered that was connected with all my steam games being on 2nd drive but with this topic I’m no longer so sure…
No. This exact same thing happens to me and various others. It’s a Darktide problem.

I’m not even joking sometimes I fall asleep during the load times. I get so tired and bored from waiting minutes, MINUTES!

This should be addressed with our next patch. If problems persist, please let us know.
