It’s simple, either you’re not playing Havoc40, or your teammates are helping you share the pressure of killing the specialist.
Can u send the link,or do u have scoreboard mod?I cant load this video. If you have a screenshot of the scoreboard for this game, I believe it will be helpful for analysis
How can I become even a quarter as cool as you?
My network is having issues, so currently I only see what happened in the first ten minutes. I don’t want to engage in personal attacks, but your performance is really below par. Brother, why are you using a shovel to hit the boss? When your equipment encounters Slime Hound, instead of using a shovel to scrub his tail, you might as well hit the ball behind him, throw an AP grenade, or be wary of the specialist. A qualified veteran should be able to kill half of the specialties, but you’re just sharing the pressure of killing the specialties with the entire team. You call this substitution, right? Look at 06:38, do you really know what you’re doing? Are you so content to let the grenadiers separate the entire team and ignore the gunners ahead? By the way, what are you, havoc40? Groups of crushers, groups of bosses, and groups of specialists don’t actually appear at the same time? Not even a scene where four bosses appear at the same time? Your performance in the first ten minutes didn’t make me realize your skills, but it showed me the difficulties of PSYKER. I don’t want to deny all your efforts in this game based on one sixth of the video, but your actions make me feel like watching this video is a waste of my life. If your goal in playing Veteran is to kill Elite, why don’t you just play Zealot?
It’s okay, mistakes are not a big deal. It’s normal to have misunderstandings. Before hearing others talk about it, I never realized that the chimney behind the plague ogryn was also his weakness; I never realized in Vermintide that the gradually strengthening steel of Bounty Hunter could take effect in every reload of the crossbow. I don’t mean to be sarcastic, but I have seen nets hiding behind shield guards, platoon leaders, and twins appearing with their damn pets and groups of armor followers more than once in Havoc 20-30. The significance of build is not just about how much damage can be stolen, but what can be achieved in a truly high-pressure environment. Unfortunately, I didn’t see the ability to withstand pressure in your video, and as a substitute for plasma gun, it’s not very good.
And, to be honest, your build is really cool. This is the first time I’ve seen a farmer cosplayer in 40K age, this reminds me of the vast farmland in the South, especially Tennessee
What do you mean? The player in the video, playing on H40 (with Rotten Armor and Garden), dealt 3.5 million damage with an off-meta build, outperforming the Psyker and dealing more damage than the Ogryn and Arbites combined. If that’s considered “below average” could you please show what above-average gameplay looks like?
Another one of your videos caught my attention, this one:

I used to think that fatmangus, in capable hands, is a very hard-to-kill build. But here I see 10 deaths across three fatmangus players in a single run. Or is that actually normal when playing without Bubble and Gold Toughness?
This was a run with just friends, we messed up a lot cuz we were just having fun in vc at the time. But even with the run going downhill a lot, we were still able to bring it back. Not every run is smooth the whole way through, and the ones that aren’t are always the most fun. That game was a blast
Unfortunately, I didn’t see the ability to withstand pressure in your video, and as a substitute for plasma gun, it’s not very good.
Then maybe an explanation would be better. Plasma is really strong because it has high cleave (though without carapace override), damage on hit, and decent range, allowing you to hit what youre wanting to hit regardless whats in the way. The double barrel shotgun, when paired with weapon specialist and the manstopper+fletchette blessings, grants it infinite cleave (also without carapace override) from the forced crits of weapon specialist, its high minimum pellet count on crit does a deceptively good amount of damage even at longer ranges, adds 6 bleed to everything it hits (which can assist the damage at longer ranges too, since the bleed doesnt care about range), and has a wider cone meaning it can hit more things. In practice, they end up sharing a lot of similar traits, high cleave to hit many things per shot, high damage on hit, and the ability to kill specials reliably at range. There are still minor differences, like plasma having better carapace damage and no setup required, vs the double barrel applying damage over time and hitting more things per shot due to its cone, but the core reason why theyre used and effective are very similar. (Plus, the combat flow of this build is just so much more fun)
I can’t agree more. The most important thing is the joyful time spent playing with friends. Fighting against Fatshark’s directorial system is also an indispensable part of Havoc40. By the way, a sad fact: plasma guns after being nerf may really not be as good as double barreled shotguns
Yes, the veteran I’m used to is completely different from yours. I tend to prioritize killing specialists and throwing smoke bombs to prevent teammates from being attacked by gunners. If you are satisfied with your current build, then there is really no need to replace it.
Can you send your build? I am happy to try different combinations and gameplay. Sorry, I am unable to send the build of my plasma gun at the moment. It is evident that Fatshark’s NERF is forcing the development of a new build using plasma gun’s veteran.I haven’t tried any new weapons other than plasma gun for a long time. It can be imagined that an additional 50% cooldown is an effective enhancement for most ranged weapons (although they may still not be able to counter heavily armored enemies,Especially the Blood Scar Berserker)
also, i think the nerf to plasma is not gonna be as impactful as it sounds, 18 cleave is still a lot, thats multiple elites worth and enough to punch through the majority of a horde on its own. there is that new cleave node thats easy to reach that increases it by a hefty amount, and any strength you have, like from blessings for example which are also the common ones anyway, also increase the cleave as well multiplicitively. thats also not taking into account hitmass reductions on any enemies that are staggered by your team, the effective cleave if you lean into it just a little will result in the change to the hipfire not really being noticable. not to mention, the charged shot still has 100 cleave, and it got adjusted to encourage people to shoot it with low charge due to the ammo consumption, so you could reserve quick charged shots for punching through groups to hit specialists in case you dont think the hipfire will.
I don’t have optimistic expectations about this. Charging shooting speed is too slow and will accumulate more heat.I have already sent the specific number of penetrations in this post. The effect is very poor, the plasma gun has almost lost its characteristics and become an incredibly bulky weapon.Plus i’m unable to access gameslantern.com,they said i have been blocked.
This is the crux of a lot of the issue. People are so used to relying on the meta picks they assume every other option is unsuable dogshit, that they legitimately don’t know the upside of any off meta weapon or how they can be competitive in many aspects to meta weapons. So when their favorite meta option gets nerfed they get scared that the game will be unplayable because they think that no other option is even viable.
I really don’t want to repeat what I said, okay?In havoc 40,besides plasma gun, what other long-range weapons can penetrate groups of enemies, hit special enemies hiding behind, and not consume too many ammo? Apart from the battle roar, what other skills does a Veteran have to simultaneously protect themselves and support their teammates? There’s no other choice. But if you said auric vortex or lower difficulty, yes, these nerf seem insignificant. There are also more weapons to choose from.
I’m going to sideline you with this: if there were other weapons and skills like that, wouldn’t they just become functionally the same as shout or plasma gun?
Yeah, but we don’t have something that can replace them.
