300 hours in, my main complaints

  • Mission Selection

My main complaint about the game is definitely the severe lack of mission options at any given time. You get 1 or 2 options for Heresy and Damnation for an hour at a time. The only modifiers is either high or low intensity, and now doggos. Lights out was my favorite, but I only saw it show up for half of one day.

Just remove the preselected difficulty and let us select what we want, Deep Rock style. I don’t think matching would be much more difficult than it already is because there is always quickplay and it works in Deep Rock.

  • RNG

The RNG is just super ridiculous. Add some bad luck protection. %95 of all of my emperor drops and shop items are either autoguns, devil claws, or axes. It is super painful and kills my will to continue.

  • Crafting

How was this not one of the first things implemented in the game? How is it taking so long to give us the ability to swap blessings? I made like 20 force swords and none of them got the deflector blessing, so I’m still using a low level sword just because of that.

We so badly need a material converter. I never have any plasteel, but I have thousands upon thousands of diamantine.

I honestly don’t mind only being able to change 1 perk and blessing, because it adds to the gear chase. If you can’t handle higher difficulties because you don’t get all the best perks, blessings, and stats then maybe the weapon isn’t the problem.

  • Classes

Penances for shooter and preacher are pretty easy, but ogryn and psyker are just absurd. I’m not even going to try some of them until I can play solo. I only managed to get the solo boss one because I happened to have all 4 friends on at the same time that let me kill the plague ogryn.

Psyker is my favorite class, but I play like warp charges don’t even exist because they are just a pain. It is too bad that so many feats revolve around charges.

Make weapons and resources shared!!!

There are probably other class complaints that I can’t think of at the moment.

Edit:

Why can’t we level up past 30 if we can get +xp on trinkets?

Searching for books is a pain. Let us use the auspex to point out the general direction of the nearest book.

Why can’t we level up past 30 if we can get +xp on trinkets?

My guess is, it might be the same as in VT2 after max level, you basically keep leveling, don’t get power from it but an Emperor’s Gift. I am just guessing here, but this would actually make sense/be useful for the +xp on trinkets, if this is not the case they should make it so.

you dont get chests in this game like commendation for each lvl up which even have a low chance for reds.
in this game you get nothing thanks we have the shop app. melks shop is garbage so is the other.
the player number drop is deserved.

Also about 300 hours in - the maps are really repetetive now.

Some gameplay mechanics are pretty unfair, like spawning endless mobs right in your face, spawning muties, trappers and hounds just while rescuing people, spawning one single enemy behind you to give you the final backstab you need. The L4D2 director worked with team play mechanics afaik and DT would be more fun too with that (if it uses that feature already, I don’t see it; probably needs tweaking).
The game can be difficult and still reward teamplay at the same time.

The witch in L4D worked better than the Demonhost: she incapacitated one player or killed him on highest difficulty but it was possible to take her out before by a close headshot or shooting her with everything during that process. The demonhost requires minutes of fighting and kills two people. And then you walk around the corner and there is another one. I think my top amount was 4 of them during a game.

Sometimes I load into a game just to land at the “mission failed” screen and from then it seems to be faster to kill the game client in Windows and restart.

It seems there are no startup options to skip the intro movies and logos and the “press space to login” screen should have a login and exit button instead. When the servers are down (like during the beta to release date) you have no option to leave the game unless you kill the game client.

You can start the game multiple times: minimize the game, click on Darktide in the taskbar and you get a second instance.

Sometimes when you minimize and go back, the taskbar is still visible and nothing except restarting the game makes it really fullscreen anymore.

The map deployment does not show information about the map, like modifiers.

Which map has scriptures, which has grims? Same icon → manual search.

There should always be a vanilla mission of each type and difficulty (and actually it would be nice to construct a mission yourself, while the random deployment could have a checkbox “feeling lucky” which adds random modifiers to the game if it is created for you).

The shopping and crafting is uninteresting. I basically login, walk to the shop, check for some better items, the shop does not have any for the next 20-50 minutes, so I play a bit because my stuff is good enough. dockets are piling up, Melk’s currency is always too short and gathering crafting materials is boring.
In Diablo 2 you just had gold and could buy basically any item and the gambling shop had fast reload times; you saw an unidentified base item, bought it for lots of gold and then the stats were revealed. That could be done here too. I dunno what I should use the gold for.

I don’t get why the barber surgeon does not allow to change everything, like gender, voice, background, the name etc. It does not really mean anything in the game.

Spawning into a running game with no or lower ammo in your weapon and low health or high corruption even sucks. Of course there is a horde around you too and maybe a special right in your face. Joining to insta die isn’t fun.
Also joining at the very beginning and running one minute until you reach the team that is already engaged in combat - also nice.
Why do we have to run one minute until we reach the main area anyways? In L4D2 you opened a door and your were in. Why not hover over a landing pad, open the ramp of the flyer and jump out? Or at least start in front of the hole of the maps?

It is a lot of these little things.

yeah i know there are no chests, i just had the feeling Emperors Gifts might be coming depending on this after max level i didnt care to check. Thats all i said and as i said its just a guess.

I don’t know if I can go another week without being able to reroll blessings. Trying to get deflector on a decent force sword is just pure pain.

I’m “only” at 200 hours I think. Some of my complaints are:

  • Being thrown OOB through a wall or under a floor by a mutant
  • Quick-playing into the “mission failed” screen
  • Interactive items spawning inside non-interactive items (power cells spawning in a barrel, chests spawning under rubble etc.)
  • Desyncs causing nigh impossible hound dodging
  • Invisible enemy spawns. No ceiling holes to drop through, no doors, not near a ledge. Suddenly enemy.

But yeah. The mission selection is extremely poor. Especially since the refresh timer for each mission is off sync so you might miss a better mission (heresy+ w scrips and special conditions) by quick-playing into a match.

And I agree. The RNG of Hadron and the scarcity of upgrade materials combined with the RNG of Peddler 138/143 and the lack of a shared inventory between characters makes the endgame way too grindy

Has no one talked about hit registration being pretty bad? A lot of times I hear a headshot sound or the sound of a sword hitting a target on my screen but the server says the enemy is no longer in that position, and that what we are seeing on screen is delayed slightly from the server.

I would genuinely like an option to either sell my wargear, crush it into resources or sacrifice it for blessings (the latter of which from what I understand is intended, but of course we don’t have the full crafting system launched which leads me to believe they’re not even sure of what or how to implement the systems).

That’s interpolation in a nutshell. Could be poor netcode, could be your internet, who’s to say

My big one was leveling 2 characters to 30, getting fairly decent gear on them, if not near top tier on one of them, then discovering I’m playing with the even smaller playerbase on gamepass and there’s somehow not even crossplay even between different launchers on the the same f–king platform. How is this a thing???

Anyway, I obviously liked the game enough to buy it again on steam and I’m near 30, but honestly it’s feeling really sad and grindy this time around since I haven’t had the RNG luck I did with my first characters. Also the missions are definitely getting boring. Really sucks to get 30-50 diamantine from a 25 minute run when I need 300+ for one upgrade that probably won’t get me the blessing I want anyway.

Consecrating a promising base item (that was hard to find in the first place) only to get a low tier useless blessing or perk on it is so disappointing, because it essentially bricks the weapon completely.
