3 Ogryn suggestions

I have three suggestions which is the whole reason I just now made an account, that I would like to give to the developers slash fatshark for the ogryn.

my first suggestion I feel like a lot of people have given before or talked about is giving the Ogryn the ability to escape Trapper nets, either as a class passive that doesn’t need to be unlocked or as an upgrade in the skill tree.

my second suggestion is giving the Ogryn more base health and at the same time making the Ogryn heal from health crates percentage wise instead of current numeric.

and my final suggestion is ammo related, specifically for high fire rate low damage weapons on the Ogryn. they eat through a lot of ammo with low Returns, I can think of two good ways to buff slash balance this issue either by increasing the maximum reserve ammo of the high fire rate low damage weapons which at the same time would also make those weapons get more ammo on ammo pickups Or making point blank barrage give the Ogryn Infinite Ammo, the same way the Hive scum have with desperado.

this has been my 3 suggestions, I’m sorry if it’s a little long… I apologize:sweat_smile::woman_bowing:t3: I also hope I did put this suggestion in the right section.

Interesting suggestions. You should add the reasons for each change though.

I guess I can? for the first suggestion it should be pretty explanatory it is just a buff to the class something that feels fair and needed.

the reason for my second suggestion is because I feel like the Ogryn should not be a toughness tank, they should be a health tank.

and I’ve actually already thought about how much health they should have, I think they should have 500 baseline health which could be increased to be as much as 815 health if you have three times plus 21% health trinkets.

and the final suggestion is because all of the fast firing weapons feel good enough to shoot and good in regards to damage but you run out of ammo way too fast and actually become liability for your teammates because you end up hoarding a lot of ammo

that’s pretty subjective though.

personally I see no problem playing full health ogryn since beta and through (with the exception of the current one) every season of havoc til 40 (often on the first try)

so buffing any class instead of nerfing the blatantly skill-less options, forcing people to play by their abilities and not the characters’

aint a positive solution for me.

arms race is too far gone already, few players I can truly respect by their playstyle and the majority I instantly brush off as one trick ponies, disregarded in every way and end result.

its a shame come to think of it, when usually you meet a good peer once in a while that inspires you to improve.

now it’s just “pff arbi-cheapskate and gun-scum-tiny :eggplant:

putting ogryn into there by buffing takes the last real appeal of the big man, dominate despite “weaker prerequisites”

I don’t think it’s subjective? most like 80% of Ogryn mains find it annoying how easily we can be trapped by a trapper when we are enormous and stronger than space marines, so I feel like giving the class the ability to freedom selves or not be trapped at all would be nice and also makes sense for a Ogryn.

anyway I do agree a lot of people no longer play stuff just because they want to or because it’s fun, like I still try to play all classes and use custom loadout for all classes that use all the keystones and abilities and auras and not just the best on each class.

like I have made 6 loadouts on every class that use specifically each of their abilities and their grenades and their keystone so there’s 2 loadouts each unique using the 3 different stuff from the skill tree.

hard no from me.

these “80%” should be forced to up their game if overwhelmed by a legit game mechanic, rather than water down said mechanic to non existence.

it’s their inferiority, not the game being to punishing, so it’s up to them to improve.

screw “everyone has do be able to do everything with every class”, filter those that can’t by visible deeds and failure instead of pressing a button that absolves em of their failure.

just had 5 great event auric matches (sadly it still isn’t a thing in maelstrom) and putting them dueling sword/plasma/meta of choice cheapskates in their places as ogryn felt as good as ever.

besides you already got the

it’s called dodging which everyone fails at some time or another and that’s a good thing.

without the chance to fail, matches would feel bland as kark.

many ogryn players struggling with the class is rather a sign of noobs choosing the class due to its uniqueness and fail to put in the works learning the basics.

shield planting in auric maelstrom for example is a surefire sign of said inexperience

yesterday when I played I first got a dog on me when I played the new event then after I got up immediately a Trapper hit me as well and then I got down, then my teammate came over and revived me and i can 't not!!! I’m not lying when I’m saying a second trapper or maybe the same trapper if my teammates didn’t kill it came and trapped me again!!! after I got Revived.

in situations like that? you can’t do anything, it’s not on the player, it’s not a lack of skill.

trappers are literally the great equalizer for all classes and all players.

it doesn’t matter how skilled you are, you will inevitable be trapped in a game, don’t try to make it about skill when it’s not.

it is about a mechanic that is very dumb and frustrating but it’s fine for the small humans but should not be that big of a deal for big meat slab

like listen here I don’t want us to not be trapped at all and just be able to walk into the net and nothing happens that would be boring and also not make sense so let me elaborate on how I think the ability to free yourself would work.

instead of being fully trapped, you only get a little bit tangled, you’re still hit by the net and instead of falling completely over you stand upright and is Tangled in the net and then you can spam click E to free yourself or some other button.

does that not sound like a good mechanics / idea? you’re still vulnerable, you still hit by the net but you’re able to free yourself and it’s not a guaranteed Death Sentence.

it does cause at a certain point you anticipate more than 2 trappers in one spawn spot and act accordingly as to use hard material of the map (walls etc) to either break their line of sight, kite them one by one while hitting through that wall so they can’t hit you or disengage and reposition to an altogether better place.

reading the room, knowing enemy patterns and other than havoc 40 not counting on anyone doing anything right or even close to you, is part of that as well.

had a net in one match and I kid you not, a total brainless zealot was using his book next to me instead of getting it off.

the bot did what human idiocy could not :man_shrugging:

keep in mind no one will succeed 100% of the time
and thats a good thing cause otherwise whats the point.

even the most skilled players don’t do havoc40 solo on repeat 10x a day.

but knowing how the game tries to fk you sideways is one piece of the puzzle

then why should one class get an “out of jail free card” ?

arbi already got a dckless anti dog mechanic (well so does ogryn in the middle tree, but far less accessible and neither should be a thing in my book)

honestly? no, cause even if I fully revell in my clutches, if I do a grave mistake and the rest aint able to get me free, we deserve the loss.

disablers are there for a reason and should be a hard check for progressing through the match.

in a total solo mode/no bots, like what space marine 2 offers, there could be an option as to not waste a good round to a net flying through 30 crushers.

other than that, a fair disable should be a fair loss

Remove ammo, add an overheat mechanic. But instead of not being able to shoot when overheating, have it drain health.

Fair enough, but what if Trapper net break was locked behind Feel No Pain and only occured once every 120s, effectively it would be a saving grace to unfair situations - Bulwark cluster obscures silent Trapper - without being so accessible that it disables the disabler.

It would also be quite thematic, Trapper instead flees in terror for 8s upon net break.

Here’s how it would work

I rather have fatshark adjust the cleave limit on how many enemies or what enemies in general a net is allowed to pass.

say poxers are out cause no matter ogryn can shove em while dodging, 2 rows of ragers should be max as well as ogryn enemies be a hard-block for nets altogether.

rip her guts out and strangle her with the appendix i’d rather :squinting_face_with_tongue:

*Inserts some janky early 2000s animation where Ogryn leaps forward, rips her guts out

Agreed on the cleave point though, that could be a good solution to Trapper unfairness as well.

a to some degree controllable solution as well since experienced players try to maneuver the pawns around already

having the odd ones out that ignore such positioning by no-clip shenanigans feels off since the games release.

then again I’d strongly vote for “real physics” such as no hitting through solid walls etc as well as having bounce your melee weapons off in a mild self stagger punishment for sloppy whacking

Pushing and hitting through walls are among my favorite ways of dealing with Bursters/Monstrosities though. Staircases too, love camping under stairs and whacking BoN.

I suppose it’s a bit unfair, but I despise getting Burster damage from teammates shooting Bursters, at least pushing through walls guarantees I don’t take any.

It does reduce the immersion though, I’ll admit

we indulge in the mechanic cause it’s a thing since the beginning.

I’m guilty of it as well of course for what the game throws at you at times is “meant” to be dealt that way.

then again the game could be “more” if redirected somewhat.

pace etc must stay the same of course, but enemies could get more meaningful through changing the physics somewhat.

it’s irrelevant anyways since nothing of the sort is gonna happen, still it’s the “if I had a say” idea
