a new Mortis Trials game mode that…really doesn’t do anything, and is straight up ‘this mission could’ve been a vox-log’
a ‘story mode’ cobbled together out of bits and pieces, which while functional still isn’t great and is missing a lot of content already made
a new class! Which they broke before leaving for summer vacation, and which has snapped game balance over its knee.
The rest is reworks of existing stuff, half-hearted attempts at balancing, and not much else.
We’re waiting on new maps, new story, new weapons (especially Veteran, who was promised one…four months to go, FS), and we don’t know what’s in store or what to expect from what’s left of the year.
You’re a studio with a triple-digit employee count. If you can’t get enough programmers, maybe empty out some of those Marketing and PR people, since they don’t seem to actually do anything beyond give an interview once every six months, and use their salaries to expand your team of actually useful developers to make this game more than just a superlative combat system attached to dysfunctional nonsense.
Content updates are quarterly, and we have FS on record now saying that if people just come back for the big updates they consider that a win.
This year we also got some Havoc improvements and rotating maps/modifiers, an ogryn rework, loads of voice-acted lore to work towards unlocking, much-requested combat shotgun buffs, a new difficulty gating system, quite a few new simple cutscenes and easily the best cinematic in the game (besides the intro). I’d love a whole movie like that new cinematic.
We’ll almost definitely get another seasonal update in the fall, like last year and the year before. I’m hoping it’s juicy, but no matter what it is I don’t think it’ll sate some people’s thirst for moar.
