1.0.8 Too many bug fixes and tweaks, too little changes

LOL… wrong again. When are you going to stop pretending you know how software development works?

You first. :yum:

good one.

Although I’m going to use this analogy through-out my comment, I’d like to mention how it doesn’t make much sense. This is mainly due to the fact that once you eat the food, it’s gone, the chef can’t improve upon it any longer. However with games the Developers (The Chef) can constantly add to and polish the game (the food) while it’s in your steam library (At your table)

With that out of the way, I’d like to mention something. Let’s take a game called “Mount and Blade Bannerlord” as an example, it’s been in development for around 7 years and still doesn’t even have a release date, now with the amount of work that the developers have supposedly put into this game we can expect and extremely polished game with a significant amount of depth to it. However, seeing as the game isn’t out, no one has been able to play it and to put it simply, there is a large chunk of people that want to play the game, regardless of its condition upon release and have been getting riled up for quite some time. Vermintide two avoided people losing interest or getting angry (Which is what happened with Bannerlord) by giving the dish as soon as possible, even if it is just a plain salad. Now, I’m not going to deny that Vermintide two wasn’t the game it had the potential to be when it was released, but the developers catered to the people who were content with something that was at least “edible” and were mostly indifferent as to how polished it was. Now if you’re the kind of person who has trouble enjoying games that don’t have “proper vinaigrette” I’m not going to get up in your face. I’m gonna be honest here, if I didn’t enjoy the plain salad without the vinaigrette as much as I do, I’d be insisting on proper dressing as well, luckily for me I got the base salad as early as possible and have been enjoying it whilst they get the vinaigrette ready. Now, if the developers gave the salad and didn’t even attempt to get some proper vinaigrette, I’d completely understand your irritation at them. However, I trust Fatshark enough from my experience of their first dish (Vermintide 1) that they are gonna make some kick ass vinaigrette. So, to sum it up, if you can’t stomach the base salad, it doesn’t really matter if it’s at your table or not, all you have to do is give the developers some time to get the dressing ready.

A couple more things I’d like to address are, if you’re saying we’re not getting what’s advertised, you will get exactly what was advertised, simply at a later date. All you need to do is not play the game until you feel it’s at a stage that will be enjoyable for you. Furthermore, if you’re saying it’s unacceptable that we’re not getting the dish at the advertised time, you have to remember this is some corner pizza store with broken lighting and barely enough room for three tables when compared to the massive triple A studios you’re used to, so putting them to the same standards as you would other companies is a little unfair. Also, the game is half the price of the $60 tag that many other titles are adopting these days, combine that with the fact that it has reasonable priced DLCs (That you only need one of your friends to get) and will almost undoubtedly get free content that goes above and beyond (like trial of the foolhardy from V1 did), waiting for some vinaigrette shouldn’t be too much trouble :+1:

LOL

i love this post.

They could have put an early access sign to it, like Killing Floor did, or PUBG, or H1Z1, or Rust or dozens of other games. In this case no one, and I mean it, no one, would complain. And the fans would be able to play, to enjoy the object of their delight. And common folk could buy the game as soon as it was ready. Ready, not released, because who cares about official release if the game is fun.

But no, we get something, that is said to be a finished product, which it is obviously not. So if you call it a finished game, if you take money for it, if you already making paid DLC for it! then you are going to get treated accordingly.

No, this is not going to happen. At least because of one fact - the playerbase will be gone. Maybe someone will be left, but waiting times and ping will increase significantly. And that is the main stumbling block.

But also, how are you so sure, that they will make a decent game after oll. You believe so much in FS, but why? I mean that’s a dumb question, because faith needs no reasoning, but maybe I am wrong, maybe that’s not blind faith and you know something I am not aware of, that makes you certain, that in the end the game will be polished by the devs and not abandoned, like Battleborn, Division, Dawn of War 3, Starforge, Master of Orion, any Endless game and hundreds of others, or that the devs are not going to fail, like with H1Z1, Evolve, Gigantic, Friday the 13th and many others yet again?

You’re so confident, that you’re going to get a dish. No! Others will not wait so long for it to get cooked, and there is no guarantee that the cook itself hasn’t already escaped through the back entrance with your money.

This is the worst possible comparison, because small restaurants are usually the best. Not only that, but they all have exactly the same standards regardless of their size. If the table is dirty, the food is not fresh, if employers do not monitor their health, they are gonna get punished, possibly closed by the government.

And when I come to a restaurant, and I bet this is also true for you, I don’t care about what happens at the backstage. All I care about, is clean room, tasty food and reasonable price. Yet somehow, when it comes to game development, the standards change drastically. It is considered, that small studios should have a privilege, because they’re small, and poor, and working their asses off to deliver new content to their favorite customers, while barely being able to make their ends meet.

No, their not poor! Not FS, which sold over a million copies of Vermintide 2! But even if they were, why should I care? I, and other people, do not care about other industries. You do not care about Amazon working conditions, when you get your package delivered to your house, you don’t care about China workers payments, when you use your brand new IPhone… or GalaxyS, not that it matters. But what makes game developers so special?!

And it’s not like Fatshark at least bothered communicating with players, taking their opinion into account. If they at least bothered to notice, that players have problems! Bothered to make their lives easier and make a list of broken things at least! But they did none of that! FS is acting like a typical big company, yet you still keep protecting them and sympathizing to them.

Btw, they even deleted their roadmap page, to hide the fact, that they didn’t fit in a single deadline. Here is the current roadmap page. It used to be empty just a couple of hours ago, because they had to delete so fast, that they didn’t even have time for creating a “coming soon page”. And here is how this page used to look like. See any difference? Hint: don’t look at the picture, read the text.

No official explanation has been made so far, no apologies, no nothing. But please keep defending them, showing your support and don’t forget to give them some more of your money. Thank you.

An apology would be a fantastic start right now.

Give me a choice between bug fixes that are aimed at things like bots or the enviornment and direct fixes to things like bugged talents or the shitshow economy LargePhish has created and I will choose the latter every single time.

Environmental bug fixes or fixes aimed at bots are necessary, yes, but they’re not what gets anyone excited when they hear ExorbitantWhale announced a new patch :frowning:

most of the bugs weren’t fixed and there are more likely worse bugs added since 1.0.8, generally speaking we just downloaded 20 gigs of fck my sht up fam.

Also, I see a lot of posts talking about waiting for the game to be at a playable state. 1st off, it should of been on release, they had all the time in the world to release the product and knew from V1 what people wanted and expected, secondly V1 never really reached an ideal state without mod support, QoL did wonders for that game, however due to EAC and issues plaguing the game, mod support and dedicated servers are prolly backburnered for 6+ months unless you are chummy with FS like J_sat.

No, what’s happened here is that your food was delivered but it’s under cooked/raw enough that a skilled vet could still save it

This pic feels rather…relevant to what V2 is currently, hint, it’s the one on the far right
