Zealot is paradoxically the most OP and UP class in the game

Before any class talents are considered, FGS Mk VI takes around 7 hits to kill a H40 Crusher, Relic Blade Mk II takes 8, or more like 7.5. The main difference is that FGS anti-armour combo consists only of heavy attacks, and relic blade Mk II combo starts with a light attack before you can lock into the heavy attack chain. If you start the chain with a powered stab, you are down to 7 hits :man_shrugging:

You can’t really compare them in a vacuum like that. Part of what makes FGS the better weapon apart from doing comparable damage without the powerup gimmick, is the superior blessings pool. Imagine what it could do in zealot’s hand with shred riposte, or better yet, hive scum.

Both marks are literally the best melee weapons in the game, surpassing even the almighty DS4 in terms of overall performance.

Literally above in the same comment:

Weapon power side, when having a choice, for the vast majority of players, an optimised relic blade zealot build is still a far more preferable pick to bring into H40 instead of an optimised FGS melee psyker.

Before the DLCs dropped, Zealot used to be my main by far in terms of hours played. But right now, to me, he’s a jack-of-all-trades master-of-none kind of class (not including Martyrdom builds because I hate hate hate this super high-risk high-reward stuff).

There’s just a myriad of tiny annoying things that pop up in my head when trying to build him as a traditional frontliner (and not some VT2 Shade expy that kites stuff and dumps aggro all day):

  • The generally good stuff (Dance of Death, Abolish Blasphemers, Faithful Frenzy, Prime Target, Riposte…) is completely spread out in the tree
  • Blazing Piety is good but synergizes only with some weapons
  • Inexorable Judgement is versatile but a big talent point sink
  • He suffers from having no reliable nodes for Finesse or Weak Point damage bonus (except Duellist, which requires the nitpicky servers to register a successful dodge, and then it lasts a generous 3 seconds).

It’s like, he needs stuff to rely less on successful dodging. It feels like he’s missing 2 talent points to be complete and competitive compared to the DLC classes, or even just Psyker or Veteran.

I’m sorry I still don’t understand what you mean, the problem must be me. Are you saying the FGS have comparable armored damage to a powered up relic blade, or that it doesn’t?

Also, the reason a zealot is preferable swinging a bigass sword in the thicc of it, is that despite what everyone would have you think, a melee psyker is still made of paper compared to a zealot.

They really need to rework this one for a simple +25% weakspot damage

Trust me the special is the least problematic part of it

The issue is that it’s basically a powered Relic Blade a 100% of the time that it doesn’t require to manage the heat system like Relic Blade does, while also having an extremely easy moveset

If you don’t build right… Psyker has insane survivability if built right. Only thing missing is a one shot preventing skill. And frankly that is ok!

9 second downtime on relic blade isn’t that punishing, I very rarely catch myself wishing for my blade to cooldown like right now. I would say both marks have a better horde / mixed horde clear and stagger vs rager clumps than FGS. I have around the same amount of levels on both classes (around 1000). If I had to choose between both setups in H40, I would pick a tanky relic blade build over melee psyker every time. Comparable damage output, FAR more safety / survivability.

I agree FGS Mk VI moveset is a bit meh, somehow I always gravitate to Mk VIII.

The thing is your survivability is only better on melee seeds. Psyker survivability against ranged is much higher.

because even with the changes, the aggro dumping is a real headache to deal with. actually competent shroudfield players are few and far between as well

and by “competent” i don’t mean exercising in mechanical skill (anyone can click buttons fast), i mean people who are capable of using half of their braincell for two seconds

if you’re not running above 250 then you’re not a real gamer let’s be real

Red Ping Gamers

With overload its 7 seconds and you can truly brain off just ignore the heat mechanic

If Psyker were as easy and overpowered as you and OP make it seem to be, Psykers would be as prevalent as Hive Scum. Except they aren’t and there is a reason for that - much higher skill floor and ceiling. You can claim OP all you want, doesn’t change the fact the class requires much more fine tuning in terms of skills and awareness than every other class. Also, if what I said is an “insane leap in logic” then you aren’t very logical to begin with.

In my experience they are more prevalent then scum but anecdotal fallacy and that jazz.

No, it’s just that suggesting DS is fine on Psyker is an absolute dog water take.

I’m not even engaging with the idea Psyker is super high skill floor when they’ve been given safety net after safety net over the years, some of which were already pointed out to you by Vror.

Yeah Psyker is kinda easy nowadays, pick rate is affected by a hundred factors, I don’t need other players’ choices to tell me what I can directly observe.

Why are you arguing that a class can’t be OP if it takes more effort than another?

Same in my experience and let’s not forget how Smyking is a well known noob trap that created a stereotype by itself. Psyker has access to multiple OP brain-off tools while Scum is a paid DLC class that requires some more effort to play.

Literally the very first game I played on Asia server in a year had 3 Psykers. One that used only smite, another that used only inferno and a third that played the game but disconnected mid-mission.

It’s hilarious how people are on here complaining about Psykers being OP when they are literally the least prevalent class ATM and we have Hive Scum one shotting 15+ elites in one button press. Your guys priorities are all over the place lol
