Its called feeding the wolf while keeping the goat intact!
Why not play on map you select manually then?
Because I like to join existing games with players, not start with bots, hoping somebody will join (may be). What is especially crucial in non-prime hours where you are not even guaranteed enough people will join your newly created game before you’ll be overwhelmed by mobs. It’s also a fun on itself to join games everybody leaves and clutch them, for many DT players.
Now, what is a downside to adding a filter like OP suggests? There is none.
To be fair it’s kinda ass to muck up quickplay with an abject trash event for weeks at a time. The root issue here is making such garbage events in the first place though. Painfully obvious they just designed it around showing off the rocketlauncher so more people buy hive scum. I don’t like having things like this introduced to quickplay just because they want more money
We’ve had ogryn events before (a lot of them, seriously so many) and we’ve had bomb dropping before. The first thing I reached for with this event was a helbore.
The other game’s QP didn’t suck you into events. Its yet another lost manuscript to time and the dark age of man I guess.
It doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. Like literally implementing it like it is today serves no purpose and only makes everybody’s experience somewhat worse.
If I hate certain modifier, including events, I now need to either not use Quickplay altogether (so I’m denied part of game’s functionality I paid for, and also people whose match I could join never see me in there, potentially having to play with bots) - or I’m using it, but if I get into one of the matches with those modifiers I just leave them immediately (then I have to go through multiple iterations of queuing into the system, waiting on a bunch of loading screens - while people whose matches I leave have to wait longer for players who would want to play with them).
It’s stupid and pointless, and I can’t take people who try to defend it seriously, that’s just classical “I’m for the current thing” attitude that has close to 0 justifications, they just don’t have problem other have with it, so they think they can just dismiss them as non-issue and protect the status-quo. Literally white noise of the forums.
Well I’m not sure you’ve played with a hive scum yet but they solo it because they get rockets off every pack, and the rockets then oneshot another pack. It’s just boring
So far just one and they died a lot. I’m sure I’ll see more of them though.
Yes, hive scum’s boom bringer and vet’s kraks completely trivialize heavy elites, both should have been heavily nerfed long ago (Inferno Staff too btw). No idea who takes those decisions at FS, first they buff Crushers under pretense of them stopping be a joke - then they add tools that make them a joke again (but just for a very few builds, others still have to deal with squads of HP spongy elites). Seems like two different dudes taking charge of balancing department every other week.
Because i’ve been doing it for years and at this point having to game the matchmaker around the events for 2 weeks simply got old.
I’d be happy to do it for few days but you know the events are kinda long, often gets extended and they sometimes happen back to back of each other. We had event ending just 10 days ago!
By the way your question is already an answer…
Shouldn’t the events be kinda desirable and if not desirable then atleast non-intrusive?
Lets say you don’t like some of the events and don’t want to play them, which is okay and happens to various people for various reasons. Why should it also mean that you have to skip quickplay for several weeks and generally work around the event?
Shouldn’t having an event be a good news in general? What makes you think that events should also mean “oh okay there goes quickplay for 2 weeks”?
Can we have the opposite? To do quickplay ONLY for event missions?
I normally just always do qp’s on auric and if I haven’t finished the event yet I don’t care to join “regular” missions until I have at least beat it.
But more qp modifiers in general would be nice. Mortis trials, Maelstrom, modifiers, difficulty, campaign missions, if it’s already started, if certain classes are used, region for servers and responses, etc. Why not? Add more filters and controls.
Come to think of, if Auric wasn’t trivial to the point of being inherently boring in competent 4 mans I would just be playing this with my friends and we wouldn’t pick boombringer. The event is trivially easy either way unless you dodge hive scum (I have not managed this so far and stopped trying). Yet another trash dynamic caused by how powercrept this game got
In any case i’m perfectly happy to read and learn why not liking an event should come with the punitive factor of having to forfeit the quickplay for the duration.
Seems like some of you guys think that so please by all means explain away!
Extra barrels, extra pox bursters
I’m fine with extra ogryns.
In that case all is okay and it clearly showcases that we are all fine with all events and its perfectly fine to have them for 2 weeks in the quickplay ![]()
Thank you for solving the issue
You are barking up the wrong tree. I might have not been clear. Extra barrels and extra pox bursters are on my personal list of “Top 5 of the worst difficulty modifiers”, and there is some tough competition on that list.
I just have no more energy for “feedback”.
not looking good on steamdb for player numbers right now
I gotta dub it the worst event ever, literally feels like playing Warframe with even one scum spamming rockets let alone two…or anything else that makes the armor non existent normally. Its just a slog.
The reapers are the most annoying, since there’s like mob levels of them (they are at the population level of guners normally). They also still have Reaper logic so if you do even the slightest backtracking to allow for fighting tons of ogryns (or maybe their death dropped bomblets just pushed you that far) you might find a backup gunner battalion of a bunch of reapers. Maybe time for an exe.vet hellbore game, but the couple I did were onerous slogs.
