I want a challenge! a real one! i ADORED the hidden difficulty fight against the karnak twins, i’m so karking hyped to test my skills again!
Right now i’m having so much fun with the difficulty, give me high intensity, shock troop gauntlet, mutated horrors, specialists that turn into monstrosities, armored poxwalkers… give me hell so i can rip my way through its beating heart!
(this post is just meant as an appreciation post for the current modifier and the upcoming havoc mode)
oh also really great job with the mutations! love the tentacles its super grim, actually horrible in such a magnificent way!
It’s been a lot of fun! I like the beasts, and having to kite around 2 of them can get interesting.
I also really like the extra layer of decision-making from the instant explosion on tentacled enemies. The skill component to that is also really cool.
Bosses during finales is great. Most finales would benefit from a boss spawn. I think the tentacles enemies kind of are just freebies though, the explosion doesn’t actually do anything so in effect they’re just free kills for ranged weapons
Is everyone forgetting about nurgles blessing modifier that increases chances of enemies turning into monstrosities? That’s a fairly regular auric modifier isn’t it?
Monstrous Specialists has a chance to turn specialist spawns into weakened bosses, the new modifier will just throw 5 extra Beasts of Nurgle (no health decrease afaik) at you. Personally, I love both modifiers, but they do function differently.
Unless I’m mistaken, Monstrous Specialists doesn’t have a cap to the number of extra monstrosities it can spawn per mission, whereas the new modifier seems to have a capped number of extra boss spawns. Oh, and they’re all Beasts of Nurgle.
This special condition adding visibly altered enemies is great… love seeing be-tentacled poxies flailing around, same with the other enemies having possible tentacle heads that pop… it’s been great! And, yeah, having more monstrosities coming in one after the other is actually a lot of fun. It’s enjoyable, a bit challenging, but not overwhelming. Easily my favorite condition so far.
Has been absolutely awesome for sure, been a joy busting out the boss killer builds and just seeing Nurgle after Nurgle, with a ‘normal’ monstrosity spawn sometimes mixed in.
I’ll echo and say I hope this continues to be a feature, been a treat and a half even if it does show some players weaknesses at dealing with such. Feels nice though dropping Monstrosities in those instances ‘when no one else can’. And keeping it around has the added benefit of me actually looking at the modifiers instead of just blind clicking into missions since if it’s one, I gotta change what I’m doing XD.
Pretty sure most people prefer the Infected Moebian 21st modifier more, and to be honest, it gets real tedious fighting boss after boss in this modifier. Its not really challenging, just grindy.
That’s, in my opinion, the hardest modifier. I would consider it as the true maelstrom to be honest cause it can turn really bad quickly.
I agree. I don’t like this modifier. Killing a crusher so easily cause its head is not protected and that he will explode so easily is… strange.
I don’t see the tentacle as a boost but rather a malus to enemies.
And about monsters… This is funny first mission. But at the 10th, it begins to be just boring.
My favorite part of this event is blowing up tentacle enemies with my mind. Seriously, if you nail a Greater Mutated with a force sword push attack they instantly explode at full health.
