You get Live Service and Overpriced Cosmetics. We need to get continuous service in return

Fleecing us with cosmetics and locking us on your servers for even logging into the game makes it so that you guys do not deserve company-wide vacations and delivering 4 months of nothing at the start of every year. If you want to be Le Wholesome Company with Tradcon values - not that Jesus demands you stay at home for 2 months then sleepily do some half-work back at the office for two more months but I digress - , then make your game reflect that. Nobody likes a poser.

And no, it doesn’t take months and months to make a “new enemy” or a “new gun”. That stuff is made in a month and you guys know it. Only people needing this much time are mappers.

Nobody is locking you anywhere?

Don’t think that’s what they’re going for, bud. You’re projecting American values right now onto a Swedish studio, which despite their passion takes a rather casual stance on their games.
They were once contractor to other big companies and then went independent around 2010. Since then they do their own thing.

They also seem to be rather unaffiliated with politics, but knowing Sweden, Europe and their company benefits program in general I’d say they have a slightly pro-social stance - With no other political indicators to speak of.

You can’t host your own games, ensuring that if and when Darktide decides to pull the plug everything goes, unlike other games where P2P can keep it going long after the end of official support.

And let’s be honest - BigSneeze is probably American but nothing excuses the fact there’s, at absolutely bare minimum, around 20 people working full time on this game directly (as in, actually coding). That is a lot of man-hours that apparently aren’t being used efficiently.

There is a lot of games that don’t have the hosted game feature.
Dedicated servers are superior to P2P in every other regard. I still shudder thinking back on random disconnects and lost time in VT1 and VT2. Happened so often, I used to put the game down for weeks.

Yes, when the servers are taken down it’s over. But everything has an eventual end point. That’s just how it is. As humans we should just make peace with the fact that some things cannot last. I still weep for Nosgoth for example.

Don’t see where we are getting locked, though.

We also got an announcement just this week. They’re working on new content and such. Making yet another thread by OP isn’t going to speed it up. lol

I’m just as frustrated at the relative slow pace of content as anyone else but a thread like this isn’t helping anyone.

I can’t lie however this made my laugh. What the hell is a “le wholesome company with tradcon values?” When did they say Jesus told them to take a vacation from work? I wish I got more Heaven mandated vacation days.

Did you just say heaven mandated?

I know what the mandate of heaven is, unfortunately I’ve never played any of the DW games so the reference is lost on me :pensive:

Not much to it. DW3 was a total meme with the voice acting and story over-the-top.
The yellow turban stuff was the most ridiculous.

The shop should have all cosmetics available at all times, and prices should be slashed by half, easy.

Everyone should get more holidays, no matter what. Imo its a human right not to work yourself to death like a slave till retirement. I say that as a wage-slave working myself to death so my bosses can reap huge bonuses while I get a karking box of chocolates to share between our team of 6 ppl. I dont want chocolate. I want karking MONEY!

Ahem, I may be tired an bitter rn, sorry.

Yes, I do wish FS would communicate more on whats coming. I can happily wait 4 months to get that stuff.

It will end eventually, but there’s little reason for that end to have to be after losing dedicated servers.

Side question to no one in particular: does anyone know what working for Fatshark is like? I’d be wary of trusting what they say in public relations and dev posts. If we don’t have accounts from former employees, then we probably shouldn’t make any assumptions about it.

Glass door reviews are mostly good. Rough summary from what you find there:
+Creative Freedom
+Friendly Team
-Paycheck is somewhat below industrystandard
-Have to travel to Sweden to work there

Sorry bro, all you’re in for is a good GaaS Lighting.

And some unparalleled melee combat.

Some of the ranged weapons are brilliant too. You cant beat seeing an Ogryn shotgun a guy in half  but yes, melee is where this game really shines. I daresay it even feels better than V2. I honestly thing FS have outdone themselves on DT as overall, it feels better, slicker and more fun to play.

I still play V2 tho, its still got a solid place in my heart.

Art should have no end point
Look at all the art we have preserved for hundreds of years

It’s fine that the servers aren run forever that’s obviously not possible but companies should make a genuine effort to facilitate fans being able preserve the game to have it remain playable.

Say what you will about darktide it’s still a really cool unique game that i doubt anything will be like it well ever. It being made permanently unplayable at one point would be awful.

Except player agency. I for one liked it better when I had control over what parts of the game I played, rather than just getting whatever the GaaS-design-weighted RNG machine decided I should play next.

Meanwhile there’s still hundreds of servers online for the 25 year old Unreal Tournament, because players have been allowed to keep it alive long, LONG after it was no longer being maintained by the developer.

You just have to appreciate Mayson’s tenacity. It’s almost as if whenever there’s a critical statement regarding fatshark’s general ineptitude, he’s there to defend them on their behalf. It’s almost impossible to find a thread without him defending FS kek

Is this your way of notice me senpai applying for a moderator spot in the forums mate, or are you simply that enamoured with a faceless company?

The moderator spot dig was hilarious.
