It encourages speedrunning, tired of wiping or treading water because the team is down 1 or two guys. Can we do something about it already? As long as the primary incentive is there (the crafting) people will always continue to try this crap even if FS goes as far as implementing an “instat-kill then kick player when at X distance from team coherency for Y time” script.
can someone explain why speedrunning is such a big issue in darktide but it doesn’t happen in vermintide?
The crafting is a docket and plasteel blackhole so the kind of folks that always optimize the fun out of their games are building sonic the hedgehog zealot builds, setting up shift + heavy attack macros for their knives, and just trying to shave off as much time as humanly possible from their runs in dreyko and carnival, but they normaly infest QP queues too.
Oh it happened alright. People were speedrunning missions like crazy. I believe it was against the grain for the 100 completed career missions challenge in order to get the respective head cosmetic.
People whining about speedrunners in darktide is mainly thinly veiled blame shifting why their runs failed. Many a player’s ego can’t take the fact that he was to blame as well. Same basic idea as whining about overtuned AI directors but not wanting to go down a difficulty.
It’s the internet in 2023. People are pretty brittle these days.
Sounds to me, like those people are optimizing the fun into their games.
Also, i am pretty sure that the ressources being spread throughout the mission, does not encourage speedrunning at all.
If anything, someone who wants to farm ressources, would NOT just speedrun through the mission, but try to gather a lot of ressources while trying to still finish the mission in a reasonable amount of time.
Reminds me of max movement speed bardin slayer builds just yeeting themselves through the level. Whenever someone has fun there will always be another person whining about it.
Nice baits ya go there. I got nothing against high mob builds and stealth knife zealot/vet builds. It’d be fine if these people ever bothered to turn around and returned to the team or actually used that mobility to take out the 2 grenadiers and 4 reapers camping the team instead of just running over to and camping transition points then dying over there. I got no issue with zippy zoomy bois, I have an issue with people only interested in Playing 40k Mario Cart instead of 40k Darktide.
I know, too bad they don’t.
“If I don’t like the arguments being made, it’s obviously bait”
The specific subset of people you describe generally don’t survive. You let them die and don’t pick them up when they respawn. They either leave or behave. There’s a point to bullying sometimes.
It is a self-correcting problem.
I’m not sure complaining about the AI director is the same as complaining about speedrunners. AI director was an actual problem(that was addressed), this is not.
Yeah i hate speed runners a lot. I think I’d rather play with some noobs lol. It’s funny when they get netted then spam the “go there” ping
Too bad they keep on being a thing then, the system obviously isn’t working. * insert structuralist rant about incentive design in video games here *
I’ve literally maxed out my blacklist allotment, so here I am to b@tch and moan about them like others before me.
The AI director fix was just as much a mistake as the many ‘speedrunner solutions’. Crafting is absolutely trash but the speedrunner meme is just a giant joke.
In my 600 hours in the game, the latter 500 on damnation/auric mael, I have not once seen a ‘speedrunner’.
I’ve seen idiots unable to survive on their own en masse, but none of those would fit the ‘speedrunner’ meme description. Most people die because they overextend. I pick them up, they die again, I get progress on the rescue 500 operatives meme. No harm done.
See above
Could you guys tell me on which difficulty you see speedrunners? Maybe this is a skill issue players farming map completions for the 500 modifier mission frame thing? I remember people spamming sedition games with knife zealot in the early days to farm that penance.
Are you saying the AI director fix was unwarranted?
It is if right at the outset of a conversation all you do is open up with a strawman seasoned with an ironic tone. This isn’t a “i hate knife players” thread # verybeegnumba
Lucky you I’m jealous (unironically), I’ve got 1200, and my blacklist is full of suicidal asshats that keep trying to wreck my Auric runs.
I’ve lamented it on many occasions. I enjoyed the difficulty. But then again I’m one of the idiots asking for harder and harder challenges, because I enjoy them. So yes, in my opinion it was a mistake lol.
I also don’t want them to fix the bomber. He finally poses a real threat now. You may now hate me.
See most of mine where wrecked by xbox players (identified thanks to the who am I mod and also asking) when the update dropped. Which is the reason why I whine about wanting an opt out feature. I wonder how big the intersection in asshats is in both our experiences. We both might blame different things on the same time of idiot here.
But it wasn’t a difficulty increase? It was basically breaking the game, dozens of people were having issues with spawning glitches, sound glitches, dropping too many of everything at once. It did make it more difficult i suppose but not in a meaningful way, in a glitch hell way. There are tons of people asking for more challenges and higher difficulty that understood the AI director was broken.
Ah, the bomber is fine guy, ok nevermind. You are one of those people that think you should just shoot the bomber and move out of fire like those are always 100% choices all the time.
If I thought the same as you I’d be calling for the implementation of SP on PC or a “play with console players only mode” since folks on steam seem to be the more frequent offender in my experience. Likely a statistics thing though, as I rarely see xbox players while playing auric.
A lot of things would be solved with having decent bots and an SP option. I’d rather play plasteel farm runs on damnation with competent bots. They managed to get it right in Vermintide 2, where the bots where competent and could use your alternate character’s loadouts.
I reckon the ranged gameplay makes it much harder to get a decent AI going.
Then again almost every issue that comes up daily could be fixed with very little effort. From crafting to coop, to mission selection, inventory, etc. etc.
They’re just absolutely stubborn cnts.
Might be a EU thing. I see a lot of console players during EU hours.
Okay but they at least need to fix the damage it does to downed players and also reset its damage scaling when said downed player gets rez’d…. right o.o
Otherwise I agree with you, but don’t tell anyone I said that
