I was wondering about this, and there is great representation, with the exception of some higher leveled beasts which everyone would pick e.g. space marine . But since a lot of the game is connected to tech priests and omnissiah, what if there would be a playable class for Skitari or somesuch. A representative of ommnisiah . I get it this game’s classess and characters are nobodies but same could be done for a soldier of machine god. Make him/her a tech orientated class.
And/or make an assassination or special mid-game boss a chaos space marine… Like the Mobian VI’th got a traitorous legion on their side and from time to time you fight a chaos marine. How cool would be that?
IDK just throwing around ideas.
FS doesn’t want SM in Darktide, as they are overly represented in 40k games.
Leaving places for other 40k elements.
Dregs getting Sorcerers and Heralds
Scabs getting Commissars or Psykers
…
As for Admech archetypem it’s writeable, but it’ll take time to be developed as it’s not a small thing to make (6 new VA, whole lot of cosmetics, whole weapon line up…)
Just Use microsoft sam voice, Recolour Hadron’s Gear, and then you only gotta work on the weapons
Thankfully FS like their VA, so I don’t think they would do such a scummy thing
It would take time but I would purchasee it for 15 to 20$ if it released as DLC
Well they might not actually want to sell them (or be able to), as there are rules toward dlc for dlc, which here would be Premium Cosmetics for Dlc, at least in the Microsoft side of things (As seen in VT2 with the Luthor huss, Louen Leoncoeur and Belegar cosmetics, which are all for Premium careers, and couldn’t be sold on the microsoft side and were given for free)
Source?
An admech class could very well be non binary which would allow you to reduce it to three

There is basically no way the devs could ever have space marines in darktide and represent them faithfully without them being absurdly strong
Please no (╭╮:heavy_multiplication_x:)
Those sources state why we won’t get an Astartes player class which makes perfect sense.
But from a pure power level (measured in points cost from the table top)
Ogryns 25
Chaos spawn 40
Beast of nurgle 75
Plague marines 20
So arguing a plague marine would be unbeatable for a reject squad but an actual daemon like the beast of nurgle is no problem makes no sense.
This isn’t a good point as it isn’t considering equipment or anything else that would change point values
a single guardsman with a lasrifle is 6 points
a single chaos hound is 12 points
but the lowest cost unit i could find with a bolt/plasma pistol (a full rifle would be too strong!!), power sword and voice of command is a 45 point cadian castellan
ogryns aren’t even allowed to have bullgryn shields, bullgryns are a separate unit that can’t have any ranged weapons except grenade gauntlets (that replaces their melee weapon, they can’t have both). ogryns are roughly 21 points and bullgryns with shield are 30
so if a “new” space marine class had say a thunderhammer and a bolt pistol that would be an 80 point captain (also they still aren’t allowed rifles with power weapons, just pistols)
I think we can safely throw away tabletop comparisons since they make no sense compared to darktide’s gameplay
but imo it would be very difficult to design one without it just being boiled down to either a fast orgyn or a taller guardsmen because it would take up one of the niches that these classes are already in
Additionally I don’t think anyone mentioned or argued against fighting plague marines. I’m not against it, but also not the discussion.
That was basically the only discussion concerning Astartes. No one was discussing them as a player class - which would make no sense I agree.
I should copy @brosgw 's crafting memorial and do a Skitarii request archive, but I’m not on enough.
I have seen it a lot. It would make sense as another class.
No no. I was not arguing for a space marine class, but for a skitari or a soldier of omnissiah.
