With the current mission selection screen and server limitations, having 5 difficulties + modifiers is a mistake

tl;dr : sacrifice Difficulty 1 to get more missions available on higher difficulties on the Mission Board.

I don’t think anyone is happy with the current Mission select board. However, it’s probably not going away anytime soon. And, although it’s gotten better lately (netcode patches or just fewer players active ? Who knows), Heresy and especially Damnation games suffer from server lag, ghost hits, and general lack of responsiveness of inputs. Because almost everything is server-side, for unfathomable reasons…

What I’m saying is that Fatshark, by copying the current difficulty paradigm of VT2 AND adding modifiers AND putting it all on servers with zero possibility of Peer-to-Peer, they bit off much more than they could chew, resulting in the disappointing mission select screen we have today.

I mean, seriously, no more than 2 Heresy or Damnation maps available at any given time ? And it takes at least 40 minutes to get a new one ? Malice gets 3 maps at once, but when you’re geared up and level 30, it gets boring fast. So many people go on Malice only because it’s faster to fulfill weeklies and still get a decent amount of crafting mats.

What I’m suggesting is that I would very easily sacrifice the first difficulty, Sedition, in order to get some more mission variety on the other difficulties. Because I think Sedition has no reason to exist when low-intensity Uprising is also available as soon as level 1.

I know there might be an argument to be made for accessibility, but, again, I don’t really think it’s a problem when low-int Uprising exists.

With hopefully upcoming modifiers, I’d suggest give us one mission board per difficulty.
