Just to chime in on the fps talk a little bit. My personal experience was around 15-40 fps increase depending on the map and Direct X version i was using. Like smoker my settings were pretty much copy pasted from live version so its definitely not settings related not to mention most people i have played with said the fps increase was pretty massive as well.
I have also heard the opposite being said but its really hard to categorize and say it was net loss or gain for most computers at this point.
Yea, well, devs should absolutely know what they did and just tell us, that would explain everything
My bet is something was doing huge mess on some configs and that got fixed. It’s not like whole engine suddenly got 15-40 fps boost. Because in that case I should see boost in performance also and I did not.
Sure that would totally be the best but right now whatever they did (or be it something stupid such as driver support) it at least had pretty good impact for my performance. Granted i was already going well above 144 fps in live so gaining some extra there is not going to make difference for me.
I personally cannot comment on that one since i only really paid attention to the live and beta differences but mostly my live performance has been really solid it just got even better for beta.
The point is that this game Vermintide can run different on similar setups.
The cause is a complete mystery and while you can say that for the majority the game improved there is a minority always emerging with every update that has the opposite experience.
Obviously that’s true for every single pc title. Everyone’s pc specs can be massively different from one a other and even similar pc:s can have widely differing experiences due to overclocking and such. I am not trying to deny that.
My point was rather to just touch on my experiences when playing beta and the experiences on the people i played with.
My point was never to claim “everyone’s” experience should be better. Just from the pov of myself and the people (around 10) i played with. (mostly intel/nvidia specced)
edit: also i find this discussion to be a lot more interesting than 10th millionth talk about stagger at this point ;6.
Well ok the thing is when someone has a problem drowning them in replies of “well I don’t have it” is not constructive.
But the major difference here is that we really tried to find the issue. I was even able to prove that your PC parts have little to no influence on it since I replaced everything in V2 lifespan.
This isn’t just the usual. Some people having ancient drivers etc.
And that is really interesting if you have done such testing in the past. I personally have not seen the topic you linked to earlier (was pretty inactive in september to december) so if there was a patch that massively hampered performance for some reason and was somehow fixed in the beta then that’s interesting.
It will now be curious to see when the expansion actually launches if it will stay the same or not.
My apologies then, I just went based off of the tooltips and the lack of mention of the power buff talent in the dev post explaining the stagger mechanic.
Now I don’t really have any hard data and I dont really much want to argue either for or against stagger, but from anecdotal evidence using rapier a lot during the beta, with both assassin and power buff talents, I didn’t really find enemies that much tougher.
Isn’t most of the hate for the stagger based on the phase where enemies had like 2 times the health?
Mostly yes but the arguments have now shifted into more of a why do we even need the mechanic in the first place. To most it just seems like unnecessary hurdle and a balance nightmare on top of it.
Yea, as Hax pointed out, I had really bad performance issues with the game around the time of the BBB. It would get fixed with some patches and then broken again the next. I took all my parts out and put them on a spare motherboard, game works fine on Live now. Put all the parts back, same issue. Drops to 22fps during hordes. Very weird, as battlefield, divinity, black desert etc, they all run fine with that mother board, it’s only this game. And those same parts used on another motherboard work fine for the game. As well as the old mother board with different parts.
I don’t think the game is optimised that well and WoM just improved that. Having FPS issues for 9+ months left me pretty salty. I even had the graphics engine Dev trying to help me. It was really weird, as playing on the highest or lowest settings didn’t affect FPS at all. The game could look like MS paint and I’d still drop to 22fps during hordes.
Huh well that is definitely not a simple as drivers then like haxor said. Personally I’ve troubleshooted lots of fps related issue and such (kinda part of my vocation) but that’s definitely new when motherboard makes such a difference.
Just hope it works for you and haxor when the expansion goes live.
That’s right, what tipped you off?
Mostly anyways, played bounty hunter a few times but not enough to have any real opinion on the matter. I don’t care much for Zealot.
Agreed with all the points on your long post, Hax. Temp health generation has always been too high in this game - I’d actually rather see a return to the old “small chance of getting a bit of health back” like in VT1, even if that wasn’t perfect. It meant you genuinely had to play well for a decent chunk of time* to get back up to full, or just a safe level.
Yeah, Ranald could in theory bless you with a lot of procs, or droughts, but on average it worked well.
Because I did test that one also, and yes it feels ok on WHC, but the reason for that is that it’s fast weapon and also you focus on headshots most of the time and you insta-pop enemies with the crit-headshots But try that on Bounty Hunter… ughr, u will want to kill yourself in the first gas cloud.
And if you shout which u could do kinda all the time in beta (with the CDR talent, that was per 10-20 enemies or what was the number, you could get nonstop ult in massive fights), you just insta pop everything.
np, none of us in the beta quite understood all of it at first xD
And yes, most of the original hate was due to the HP meatwall enemies. Now the main arguments are, as @hgjw put it, about why do we even need it and/or balance. There were also people who disliked having the new talent tier oriented around either playing with stagger (or bypassing it) instead of getting a new talent row for each career.
My main complaint was that, instead of bringing up weaker weapons to standard, it created a whole new meta where CC weapons are king and weapons that were both great before and already had at least light CC are hands down the best choices.
If FS manage to get it right come launch (where it isn’t necessary and instead plays more like a bonus) I won’t mind it, but one has to wonder why they didn’t just apply it to shields and other weapons that were already oriented around skilled CC. It would’ve been worth testing anyhow.
Played WHC, can confirm, it was 40% ult per 10 enemies hit, Saltz was truly blessed by Sigmar
Can’t understand it: If you think that white health is OP, unbalanced, etc. -just turn it off by health share. If I remember correctly this option is present at new talent tree.
I think we should have had an iteration where the stagger mechanic is only applied to shields and have a few games with the HP values from Live.
That way we would have seen if the added value is really that high for every player as to justify the HP increase.
As far as I can see, FS didn’t even test this or I’d be interested if yes, how, since they aren’t that much of a high skill players. They pretty much ASSUMED that this will be some HUGE benefit for the whole party instead of just the shielders.
