Why is "Exploit Weakness" now melee only?

I played a lot of PS melee Vet and I have the same takeaway. Melee with Krak is the best choice if you go Veteran on Monstrous Specialist Maelstrom.

Less tanky than Ogryn, has less safety net than Zealot, and (a lot) less mobile than both, but damn the damage output and clutch potential are definitely if you are good enough. It is also pretty good at dealing with bosses, especially the weakened variant.

What is more, it is a very different experience from running either Ogryn or Zealot. It’s its own thing which I like very much.

I was playing melee focused Vet before power sword buff with various melee weapons. It was perfectly useable before. Now with power sword it’s just become competitive with the insanity some of the other classes can do. It absolutely could handle any content fine before the power sword buff.

VoC buff was also a big increase without regarding power sword. Clearly though you’re not actually interested in other opinions. You’ve made up your mind apparently since no matter how many people tell you you’re wrong (there’s quite a few in this thread doing that now) you just come back with “nah ahh”. Maybe you’re just not as skilled with melee as you think?

:wave: guess I’ll add to this. I personally think its one of the most flexible builds you can use right now. Perfect mix of survival, horde clear, elite clearance and team support in just 1 package, and highly customizable for each player.

If 10 crushers really is the standard to beat, then just pick kraks and plasma for weapons. I swear those will never get close to you with that Voc cooldown covering your kiting.
Powersword is also fine enough if your kiting is krisp enough.

well…I personally think it’s all about the power sword that’s carrying, not melee vet. Because before they buffed power sword in patch 14, melee vet wasn’t a thing

Well, for now, plasma vet, orgyn (just one grenade), and bugged psyker could at least deal with them.

Melee vet also work with other weapons like Catachan Sword and Chain Sword so idk what you’re talking about.

And some, clearly, tried hard to convince people to accept this change without reason by explaining in various ways such as “melee vet will be benefit from it, so this change is great!”

First, I’ve never objected to melee vet builds anywhere. In this thread I only replied to you about melee vet build.
Secondly, I’m just constantly trying to reiterate the fact that melee vet is at its core a mighty power sword, not a specialized melee build. In the last patch, the melee vet had a hard time dealing with crushers’ waves. This patch, vet has the power sword, and plasms gun that doesn’t need many talents.

Catachan Sword is a great weapon, Chain Sword just got nerfed and I never said melee vet build “doesn’t work” so stop dreaming about if I ever said that. Melee vet is a good choice but has many limitations, it was average in strength in the last patch and the biggest reason for its rise in this patch is the significant strengthening of both power swords. I’m not sure what you’re trying to argue against. Perhaps we are all well aware of the true strength of melee vet build compared to the normal build.

You’re welcome to that opinion despite, again, having multiple people tell you it isn’t true. Power sword is definitely the strongest weapon you can use for the build but it’s again not necessary at all to perform in any content.

I’m pretty done repeating the same thing here so I’m calling it at this point.

On that point, I’m not even sure if “Exploit Weakness” is a good pick at all for Melee Vet, it seems pretty useless. It’d be hard to find a weapon that would actually benefit from it.

They buffed power sword VI (also III but VI has much more dmg) a lot in patch 14, however the player’s speed is drastically reduced while charging. They’re trying to turn it into a glass cannon.

Tbh, there is a similar talent for autogun / recon. But you have to go for the melee branch (something I do for the exact same reason).
But, where it is, it means it is a choice, and it is clearly balanced. At top of the tree, it would have been too strong to let Exploit weakness for both melee and ranged.

Yeah, let make the stupidly powerful sword as mobile as light weapon. That totally not gonna make it OP at all.

You completely misunderstood what I said. Powersword has bad sprints and dodge. I am completely fine with that. I don’t want to be stopped mid sprint when activating the powered mechanic. It feels sluggish and annoying. Doubly so for the Indy Crusher on Zealot and Paul on Ogryn.

Let me give a different matter as an example: I could be wrong and I’m sorry if so.
Even in this patch I and many others can use zealot to complete maelstroms or auric often (some pros will say always).
I admit my zealot skill isn’t great, but just because many good players are proficient at playing zealot to accomplish the most challenging mission doesn’t mean or prove that Zealot isn’t a bit weaker than the other three classes in patch 14.

It’s not the talent of choice for rending knife build?

Never tried it, i just assumed it would be.
