How to build a melee vet in Damnation - short guide

I skimmed and saw some people have trouble with toughness and movement. It’s pretty late here but I’ll go over some quick points

Melee vet is easy on Auric Damnation
I’ve been meleeing Vet since beta and will tell you to Get the Toughness regen at ranged talent. This is actually a melee talent

For movement spec Duck and Dive and learn to sprint and slide; get lots of sprint efficiency and stam recovery on your relics. I am currently running +30% toughness regen, +15% sprint effi, +12% stam regen on all of them. They are +toughness relics btw

I’m using Recon laser with Stripped Down blessing (+15% sprint speed), but it’s not strictly necessary. Spec -20% sprint cost of course, and a 0.25 decreased delay to regen stamina node, or whatever it’s called

Melee is Catachan Mark IV sword; max mobility > finesse > cleave targets. Its athleticism is pure pleasure. But use what you like

Yeah, a lot of us have boiled it down to probably being best as an overall melee hybrid with good range buffs instead of gimmicking on range (though this crit build is quite strong). It’s also exactly why I’m kinda throwing in with the Veteran camp that there is no longer the same build freedom. Everyone else’s world opens up and yours closes. I miss my Columnus autogun, with the crosshair remap I could just spray heads for days and feel like contributing. They really could have just adjusted the freakin Unwavering Focus to only last the initial 5s…

make the build: Build Editor for Darktide - Create your own Darktide Builds - Darktide WH40k - Games Lantern and post it.
and “catch a breath” is completely worthless when you’re actually engaged in melee - unless there’s some weird bug and it always works regardless of range.
