Why does everyone want to nerf veteran?

Whenever i visit the forums its more the same;

Nerf plasma gun

Nerf VOC

Like vet currently is the left behind class in terms of tools and you guys still cry for nerfs to it

Plasma is just a point and click adventure since they tweaked the vent mechanic and no longer damaging your health by default. It goes trough terrain, Bulwark shields, has semi infinite cleave and has power blessings to work with, plus it cannot overheat from non charged shot, so there is literally 0 risk at the moment when spamming normal shots.

VOC on it’s own is not OP…Tactical Awareness is, because it let’s you spam VOC 24/7 as elites/specials are not short on supply at higher difficulties.

It needs a similar treatment Invocation of Death got for Zealot , or simply nerf the amount seconds it reduces the skill cd by.

Vet already weakest class, with new coming up, i have a feeling it will be obsolete.

Which highlights how most of the veteran arsenal does not function high level content and how fatshark dealt with player power

Infantry las and helbore are only usefull if you are dedicated gunner clearer but since enemies spawn behind us this makes it near impossible to actually be a “sniper”

Carapace spam also makes las weapons and by large autoguns worthless as you cant damage them

I don’t think Vet is OP. He just feels meh to play because you need to fish so much for ammo since the aura nerf. (except on certain las wepaons) The other guns need a buff, like Hellbore shouldn’t take 3 years to equip. It can 2 tap Crushers and pretty much never runs out of ammo, but it’s long equip animation coupled with the chargeup just makes it a pain to use.
The autoguns, shotguns and the revolver need some love to live up to plasma , bolter and the recon lasgun.
As for Havoc, Vet should receive more ammo from pickups.

Let me guess… you never check chest.

This is that, or your accuracy is terrible.

(and no I don’t talk about havoc… I don’t play it mostly cause of ammo penalty)

This is going to be unpopular but vet should’ve been the next rework after ogryn

Plasma is terribly designed, the charged feature is a pointless waste of ammo with the potential to kill yourself, and not having moving spread is extremely uninteresting.

Veteran is sort of bad atm, but that doesn’t make TDR interactions with gold toughness somehow not ridiculous. At least ogryn has to be provided with gold toughness to come close to what just Iron Will does after a shout.

I stopped playing Vet, and I only play Havoc, rarely some chill Auric Damnation. Havoc also forces you to roll certain build or you’ll be out of ammo, no matter how good your aim is.
My aim is not great but also not terrible (I prefer precision weapons), and I check all boxes.

Yes the zealot needs it aswell but lets be honest
That the zealot tree isnt as restrictive as the vet in terms of utility
Meanwhile the vet has:
1 best in slot blitz (shredder)
1 best in slot ult and a meh (exe stance and we dont zalk about infiltrate)
And 1 really good keystone ( weapon specialist

Ogryn is just busted currently as he does everything the veteran does but better

Better horde clear

Better blitzes

Better single target against specials and such

An actually good tree

Veteran is relegated to being a gold toughness ammo printer in the current state

We cannot balance around havoc.
So, accept that Havoc is not the normal game. Adapt or play something else.
I play something else…

I just want soemthing that feels like a karking Guardsman. I’m not here to be a dataslave to the ‘meta’. I can actually aim.

  1. A shield/ammo printer is a good thing.
  2. Well played Veterans kill specials before the team has seen them unless they have to melee 24/7.
  3. Its not the Veterans fault the class is suited to higher awareness/skill players and despite having a plethora of survival mechanics and team buffs like innate toughness regen and high impact/cleave melee weapons, other classes fail to do the basic things they should have learnt to do in Malice, in Havoc.

In this game, Gold Toughness is overwhelmingly OP, including its invincibility mechanics, so it needs to be nerfed. This is something that almost all advanced players agree on and has been pointed out repeatedly. VoC and Chorus grant invincible toughness not only to the user but to the entire team. As you know, these abilities can be spammed thanks to CDR, allowing the team to maintain invincible toughness almost constantly.

On top of that, the powerful stagger effect causes bosses to stagger, turning them into a sitting duck for a short time, letting players attack freely. In some locations, this can even cause the boss to fall and instantly die. This has been considered in the current difficulty settings, and if Auric were to become the difficulty of Havoc 40, no one would complain about this anymore.

lol

Vet certainly isn’t the weakest.
Vet’s meta build is stupidly strong.
If you think infinite grenades, gold toughness and heavy aoe stagger for days and the plasma gun existing is “the weakest class in the game”

I’m not sure what game you’re playing.

Vet’s problem as a class is that it has a handful of must pick perks tied with hilariously awful ones leading to the whole skill tree being incredibly boring for any actual build variety especially compared to the ogyrn rework which allows for several strong builds that actually play differently from eachother and fulfil different roles.

All classes need stuff nerfed

Global:

  • Gold Toughness (should not prevent overheads bursters and dogs from harming the player)
  • Duelling Sword / Knife

Zealot:

  • Enduring Faith
  • Duellist
  • Invocation of Death

Vet:

  • Tactical Awareness
  • Survivalist
  • Plasma

Psyker:

  • Inferno staff
  • Bubble (issue created by his cooldown reductions)

Ogryn:

  • Batter
  • Rumbler

Hit the nail on the head

Veteran has one stupidly strong build and one stupidly strong weapon

Which makes him incredibly boring in terms of variety

It is actually possible to nerf some things while buffing others (shocker I know), imo veteran needs a talent tree rework the fact that not picking a keystone is common is a clear indication that the tree is karked.
