I got bored of Vermintide 2 and I like Darktide’s core gameplay (combat and maps etc) and atmosphere. Everything else is in the usual Fatshark state of post-launch broken and unfinished, even more than VT2 was.
Then I can ignore the terrible itemisation and crafting. It is nice to theory-craft, but lets me honest here, you can finish Damnation games with grey weapons. Also classes / blessings combos etc don’t offer that much build variety.
What really pains me is the general lack of content (new classes and maps) and fps performance which suffers even on new, reasonably high-end PCs. It’s laughable that on average PCs the game depends on DLSS and FSR on low resolutions to provide stable framerates.
I heard that, but then my card doesn’t support RT at all (NVIDIA 1000-series). My PC is aging for sure, the first gen Ryzen isn’t great anymore, but when I hear people with NVIDIA 3000-series complaining about similar issues, what is even a point to upgrade? So my stutter brackets just move up slightly?
in game stutter gets eliminated fully on my rather high end setup…
… but indeed in the game startup / menus / loading screens / lobby stutter is all there. all the time
there is interesting bug report regarding this, when playing on linux stutter is not there, but on windows, on amd cards 3d model upload to gpu causes game to lock up for 0.x seconds. i experience the same thing.
that is why once all models load (actual game play) stuff is smooth, but the journey to there is a stutter fest
my spec for reference:
ryzen 3600, bronze sample, cannot even get 4ghz all 6 cores. i think the weakest point of my setup
32 gb ram (3200 speed)
ssd / nvme (game, windows respectively)
6900xt, 4k screen
//edit: also, this is my own opinion, due to this single thread model upload i never get in game crashes. other folks (mostly nvidia) get crashes all the time, because there is some sort of attempt of making concurrent model upload but barriers are not setup correctly and u get lovely crash
I think most of us are still playing for the same reason. When everything clicks into place and the game is working correctly it’s a blast. Tearing through hordes of Poxwalkers with a Revved up Chainsword, or Massive Ogryn club is tons of fun. Boltgun to the face of a Shotgunner is so satisfying. I purposely melee Snipers for no other reason than pure vengeance.
And because it’s so much fun the problems and bugs, and issues are so obvious. When you have a tough but fun run regardless of difficulty and your Psyker gets a Green Headhunter rifle you’re never going to use it breaks that fun and reminds you that they still need to fix stuff. When you come home from work and you’re all amped up about Purging some Heresy only to load in and every mission is either one you hate, or the Special Conditions are crap it deflates that fun like an old wrinkly balloon. But the knowledge that somewhere in this game there is a ton of fun to be had is still in the back of your mind. So we keep coming back hoping that maybe FS will listen and we’ll be rewarded for our waiting with that sense of fun again.
I still play a couple missions every day or other day but it’s so tiring getting enough plasteel to upgrade something only to see it wasted with 2 shitty perks and shitty first blessing, there goes another 800 plasteel down the drain.

Bit off-topic, but all damage meters should be forbidden honestly. The other day I got harrassed massively for “not pulling my weight” and “being low damage” by a 3-man group. I was Ogryn and the only reason I had the lowest damage is because I was running after those people and picking up plenty of Plasteel they missed. A thing, they of course denied later.
“We carried you so hard, haha”.
Made me understand why Fatshark did end up scrapping the scoreboard. People take those numbers way too serious.
I wouldn’t do that even if I get tilted I don’t speak up in chat about it I just leave. I don’t run the scoreboard mod either but if they added it to the game I would look at the end of the round probably
I can hardly say playin, when i play like 2-3 missions per week, and sometimes i just launch the game, see missions i don’t want to play and turn game off.
I think im last breath, thos 5 levels ught i can’t stand them anymore…
May 30th its half a year for this game and if there won’t be anything new worth play, then i think im done and delete this game, no point keepin it.
Because trying to make various silly and serious builds work can be fun. Fun that is unnecessarily frustrating due to how heavily the RNG system restricts making off-meta builds.
