Where does Darktide go from here?

Released 2018, full released in 2020.

So 6 year give or take, for 30 quids…

I don’t think it’s really that much of an outrage to see them release it as a separate game.

Adding to that engine strain, balance issues and file size issues.

You have my permission to like it as much as you want. I liked DRG and the devs seem to make good stuff. But I don’t enjoy rogue-lites.

The second I heard it was a rogue-lite I immediately stopped caring about it. I used to like them alot, I have a ton of hours on FTL and Binding of Isaac but I’m so tired of them at this point.

Looping back to Darktide, I had the same response to both Mortis Trials and Expeditions.

Yeah, I’ve played a few myself - the last I played was Roboquest, which had some fun mechanics for movement. But ultimately, I find I wish I could just do a run with the weapons I want. Loadouts >>>> Random, IMO. At least, if it’s one or the other totally.

" Where does Darktide go from here?"

Nobody knows.

Maybe not even Fatshark.

“….the imbalance I’ve seen,

nobody knows the crutches”

:joy:

  • Quickplay that queues for all modes (standard, Mortis trials, & expeditions).

  • Comprehensive weapon balance pass

  • Comprehensive blessing balance pass

  • Comprehensive blitz and ability balance pass

After those are done we need more standard missions, first and foremost. Perhaps a new generic class that can buy cosmetics from the commissary and the real money store (unlike Aribite and Hive Scum).

This game needs:

  • monthly balance changes to all non-meta weapons/builds
  • rebalancing for specialists to obey their AI logic (no more skipping audio and animation “tells”)
  • implement true Chaos Waste mode
  • implement Challenge maps (custom designed maps that guarantee difficulty) that function as a true hardcore mode, while making current Havoc the new overall top difficulty (above Auric)
  • a new enemy faction to broaden the enemy pool, as well as adding parity among current enemies (e.g. Dreg Maulers, unarmored Ogryn enemies)
