What’s the point of this mode? It’s just aimless walking, like window shopping. I’ve played two rounds and felt absolutely nothing. What is the core mechanic here? It’s so boring. Seriously, a total snooze-fest.
That’s as good as you described it?
It was really resources well spent if yes…
They poured resources into this “amazing” content at the expense of crucial balance adjustments, new maps for existing modes, and new weapons.
Mandatory complaining thread couple hours in: Check
I feel like this mode is going to have one of two outcomes - they change the completely because its completely garbage… or no one will be playing it in 1 month - just like mortis trials…
The whole thing feels counter-intuitive - you have a huge world to “explore” while simultaneously being rushed through it in a singular line to get to the thing to do the thing to get out with the thing… that is it… its rushed, its COMPLETELY non-methodical - which is the actual appeal of DT and it just doesn’t fit… who honestly thought THIS would be the thing that fits in? You took the worst part of Cod Zombies from the worst release of zombies (cod vanguard) and somehow managed to make it worse!
Yes, think about it—think about all the new classes, enemies, weapons, and maps we could have had. Instead, all we got was a gimped version of Helldivers 2.To be honest, even if they had done a one-to-one copy of Vermintide 2’s Chaos Wastes and put it into Darktide, it would still be trillions of times more fun than the current we have now.
I suggest you spend more time enjoying this mode, because I really like it—I even think it has the potential to become the main gameplay experience in Darktide.
Dont want to be a downer but I’ve played it like 3 times and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen all the locations/events already. Unless the other maps have more/unique stuff this is going to be extremely repetitive. Also, the whole thing is shooters galore, gotta say.
Yeah if ppl dont want to accept the new mode, just quit the game then. The expedition is epic
They did 3 modes none asked about but could literally add 1 mode - CW - which everyone asked about, I dunno how they made it but even top notch gameplay cant save expeditions - aimless walking is nearly perfect describing Id say - aimless walking in the open area under constant spawn of reapers and gunners
No maps, weapons, we are in the moment when we are getting more classes per year than maps and weapons
They just need to remove the timer and some adjustments to enemy numbers.. Got swarmed by 10 crushers, 10 bulwarks, couldnt count the amount of elites (atleast 15/20), flamers, bombers, trappers, dogs, a captain and the new boss on Heresy.. and ofcourse your chaff enemies.
cant get on to play myself so wondering what is it you enjoy about he mode
It really should have been some sort of threat bar that increases by killing enemies and completing objectives, with various breakpoints that trigger themed terror events + general ramping ferocity of enemies.
You end up with the same time pressure, but it feels a lot more organic and in the control of players.
Yeah this seems poorly thought out.
I really like the exploration component. I want to look at the environment, the cool new assets and details, and experience the outside. The map is big and there are many new map pieces, architecture, tech etc.
But you’re on a timer and people you play with get frustrated if you’re not usainbolter directly for the next objective.
What’s the point of grinding for those meager resources? You only get a few mediocre skins. They should focus on updating maps, weapons, and Havoc instead. I’m really disappointed with this mode.
Its mid AF
I’ve played four matches of Runic Expedition and still don’t see the point of this new mode. Meanwhile, I’ve already hit floor 39 in Havoc. If you ask me, I’d definitely stick with Havoc.
Yeah this gamemode just makes me realize once more that Fatshark is full of yes-men. Nobody along the line had the balls to speak up and scrutinize this idea. Some effort went into this but the actual fundamentals aren’t salvageable I think. Can’t polish a turd
As it currently is, I doubt it has longevity. If they support it (much better than mortis) I could see it lasting.
I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The combat from anywhere and everywhere is that right kind of chaos I was hoping for, but I love the frenetic pace of Auric and don’t get exhausted or overstimulated playing like some folks say.
It needs plenty of polishing, both QoL (ranges on PoIs needed immediately) and bugs of all kinds (terrain significantly).
I can easily see people hating how exposed this mode is to gunners, but that should offer ranged enthusiasts a chance to shine.
It could also just be the novelty of release and everyone trying it out that made it more fun. As people “solve” the mode, as gamers always do, the fun could evaporate.
For now, it does kinda feel like a step above regular Auric, without modifiers. I haven’t progressed enough to modifier maps. I will say I am thoroughly underwhelmed by the modifier tabs it shows for later missions currently. Dogs !!! and a tornado (blightstormer is everyone’s fave, right?) and longer missions do not spark joy.
IF they actually stick to it and bring all their sunset modifiers out for some playtime with map refreshes, I’d call it a successful mode.
Still no reason to play it except to play it, which I acknowledge isn’t enough for many. And I can’t see any team of randoms ever extracting before the last leg on purpose. But it’s not a complete bust for now.
That’s too generous, keep in mind that these people are so lost in their own incompetent laziness that they can’t even consider changing the resources caps.
So afraid of rewarding us in any shape or form that changing 25 to 50 is simply beyond their intelectul ability!
