When Expeditions was first announced, I expected it to be a CW-like mode added to Darktide, but it ended up being a major disappointment.
I played Expeditions twice on day one, and immediately found it boring, and I already predicted it would become a dead mode. As expected, within less than a month, almost no one was playing it anymore.
Now there is an upcoming update adding a new map to Expeditions, but I can’t help wondering whether Fatshark understands that this game mode has already been rejected by most players.
If the answer is that “we can only know whether a new game mode works after trying it,” then I understand that point, so I’m not criticizing the creation of new game modes itself (assuming, of course, they are not released in a broken state with terrible balance, bugs, or lack of QoL).
However, updating content that currently has almost no active player base just doesn’t make sense to me and feels like a waste of development resources.
99% of players are asking for new maps, but they mean for the standard missions, not Expeditions.
If they are not going to properly revive the Expeditions mode, then they would need to fundamentally improve its gameplay, which would take a lot of time.
The new class and enemies look very interesting and exciting, but I don’t agree with the rest of the update.
There are far more important things that should be prioritized first, such as major balance changes, improvements to Auric and Havoc, and fixes for bugs and overall stability.
