Here there won’t be any ideas or anything, there were already a bunch of good ideas and suggestions on the forum that players liked - their implementation is somewhere there. The response from the developers is like ‘We haven’t seen it, we don’t know.’ Well, if they work for the numbers - they need to show the numbers.
Let’s answer a simple survey. We need NEW weapons, not modifications of existing options. We don’t need cosmetics for the heroes, there are plenty of those. But new weapons - that’s what the game lacks. Let’s just show the numbers that this interests us, and as a little reminder to the developers about the last thing that happened:
Dear Sharks, if you happen to stumble upon this post and respond, could you please provide a bit more specifics rather than just saying “interesting proposal, let’s see what we can do.” Answer at least whether it will definitely happen this year or whether it will be in Darktide 2 - something reasonable and tangible. I’m very interested in seeing how new weapons would be implemented. Especially some with totaly different playstyles and handling. I simply hope that those will come after (or with) the itemisation update.
Adding new weapons with the current system is (as was with all the new MKs before) just a waste of time and a great source for frustration.
It’s not even a question of should there be new weapons - there should. 40K universe is so rich in lore and technical details that you can easily generate new content for at least a couple of years, releasing it, say, each 3 months in thematical batches.
Now the real question is why it isn’t yet the case, and to that question no one really can provide a feasible answer other than Fatshark, and they won’t.
Because we’re several growing pains updates away from 1.0 still. The last one was a good start but obviously they are tooling some actual boss mission in with Wolfer and the like, like the recent Hab Dreyko overhaul to make it a real mission story wise. I base my hypothesis on the Extra Captains condition which has a fully localized description. In it the Scab Captains are random bosses like monsters you fight 3 times in a level, they don’t take monster spawns and they all get different names. Clearly they are meaning to make a proper level overhaul and finale for the 2 Assassination missions for content…if I were to guess. Maybe I’ve finally clued in after my previous ‘the next patch will be a big penance/cosmetics’ prediction one was right.
I’m gonna be Mr. Unpopular and say I’d like a re-visit of some existing weapons if it’s a “can’t walk and chew gum at the same time” situation, starting the with Ogryn’s Power Maul (Paul), human shotguns, recon lasguns and never-used variants like Ripper 6 or fast-firing Agrip revolver.
I’m still heartbroken that Paul didn’t get any love when they re-tuned the zealot’s Crusher.
It’s unknown, but if they make at least some new weapons even in a paid DLC - okay, well, at least that. Since they are motivated by money, it’s possible to pay for it.
We are in Q2, FS should have an update for Q3 by the end of this quarter (June), and then a target release for Q4 to have their numbers look good by end of year. Hopefully that includes weapons, I would just prefer maps.
I think the important thing is that there is no reason they can’t do AT LEAST some basic balance changes and also add new weapons? Like you said for the Ogryn P maul just give it similar changes. Unless it’s so hard to change the damage numbers on weapons, in which case there is a far bigger problem.
