What's all the fuss about the Billhook?

Yeah I was thinking in situations on your own where poop hits the fan, like soloing a bunch of CW or SV (let’s say a good chunk of a patrol).

For me, at least, billhook is a bit less comfy in those situations since even weapon special can’t stagger them all (just one at a time), and doesn’t feel as “clean” to work with in that situation as say, an a+f, where it’s a bit more straightforward (but only slightly more so).

That could just be my own user error, however.

It’s far and away not a true weakness by any stretch of the imagination; though, in comparison to weaknesses from other weapons.

Halberd is one of worse weapons right now, its literally only weapon with -dodge

Well, as said, just different opinions I guess… wich is fine.

But don’t get me wrong: I haven’t said that Rapier has better CC. I said that 2H Sword and Flail have better CC, while Rapier has better defensive skills.

The problem is that Death Cata 3 isn’t a part of the official game… we can’t balance weapons around mods.

I dont quite agree with your statement.
The key strategy to billhook is keeping distance to the enemies whilst the axe and falchion is the exact opposite.
Axe and Falchion is the more aggressive weapon of those 2 I would argue.
My point is, even in true solo the billhook is still very strong, to much to be honest.
Even if you want utilize the advantage of distance all the time you can still dodge dance around elites and stagger those that are overheading, which gives you a little breather for the enemies to deal with.
I don’t know if this has been mentioned before but spamming the hooking attack is the worst thing one could do, as you said for yourself you can’t stagger all of them.
It’s better to repeat special attack and heavy 2 for damage.
The Axe and Falchion playstyle due to the weapon stats feel similar to Dual Daggers for me.
Let me explain the resemblance, dual daggers you dodge dance around elites spamming heavy 1 and 2, which is similar to the Axe and Falchion playstyle.

You do realise that I used that solely as a reference point and not as an underlying fact to solidify my argument in the first place right?
Doesn’t matter if you can stagger CWs out of running attacks in Cata 1 or 3 the point is even the possibility to stagger CWs out of running attacks is ridiculous on it’s own.

I had to specify it, since could be interpreted.

Anyway, apart this, since that attack is single target, imho doesn’t make the weapon op.

Yeah that was kind of the point I was trying to make, but couldn’t really find the words to describe it. For me, I usually judge weapon strength/weaknesses on aggression. For me, aggression = safety, and why I’d put billhook a little under a+f in that situation for that reason.

Again, that’s hardly a weakness for billhook, but just what would come to mind if I had to choose something. It’s extremely powerful for sure.

Well, correct me if I read this wrong. But if the statement here is “can’t solo patrols like with Axe&Falchion” then I would be hard pressed to call this a weakness. Actually it emphasis the point I have been making over half the thread that both weapons are just to good, unbalanced and in dire need of some toning down.

Yeah, mentioned it’s hardly a weakness, just kinda a minor drawback since some weapons allow for more aggression (as noted above) in that scenario. Kind of me looking for some way to find a drawback to the weapon, heh.

My PC finally got fixed. Woohoo.
I did some testing and you can get two partial heavies + 1 full charge heavy on the Chaos Spawn.
