What y'all do to Bursters?

They jump around corners or ignore being pushed and it super sucks when you get one-shot as Scum…

This forum is the first port of call for anyone that needs to vent about being killed by a special, so survivorship bias gives the impression that they’re all hopelessly broken and can’t be countered. Ignore them and keep practicing. I promise you can counter them very consistently. Make sure you have stamina when you push, you can’t knock them back otherwise. If they’re walking, push them. If they’re on the ground, shoot them. You got this.

Unless I have no other choice I leave it to teammates, especially if I see they not coming for me.

But I must say, bursters are big problem for scum, I feel like push distance is low on all of his unique weapons, especially on shivs.

Be careful around corners and push them OR stay behind let your teammates take the hit and be there to help them recover.

I shoot them when they’re far and push them when they are close. I’ll try and refrain from shooting if I see a teammate running up to one for a push. As for them jumping around corners, I’d say try being aware of their sound cues and take corners wide.

Also pay attention to when they start venting green smoke. Pushing won’t detonate them until their bomb is armed and smoking.

Honestly this is the feature I detest the most about Bursters. Yeah I get it’s probably to prevent teammates from pushing bursters that have already targeted another player but it’s a clunky and inconsistent feature that doesn’t always work especially as Specialist pops shoot to the moon in HISTG.

Bursters should be armed immediately upon spawning and should commence their stumble followed by detonation sequence upon being pushed by any player. If someone wants to be my hero and push a burster that is targeting me, by all means go for it!

They’re not, the game engine that is trying to pump out more Specialists than it can handle and failing to play audio cues correctly during HISTG missions is.

I think the only two real problems with bursters is them ignoring teammates pushing and the general silent bug that affects multiple enemies. Their range could probably use a tweak to lower the radius by a foot or so b/c there have been times on occasion where I’ve pushed/dodged back but still got hit (maybe lag).

I could have phrased the topic A LOT better, but it was directed at FatShark. It feels like they’ve made changes to Bursters? They behave differently and seem buggy. It’s just an issue exacerbated by Scum being so squish.

I saw something I’ve never seen before where a burster got staggered like 6 times in a span of two seconds by an Arbites dog. Each stagger was pushing the burster towards me so I was clenched. Also the dog only pounced a single time on my screen.

The electrocution on pounce node caused that.

I agree with that absolutely most of the time, however there seems to be a bug that, sometimes when they are targeting a teammate, they wont react to a push at all even with enough stamina.
Otherwise I have little trouble with Bursters and find being aggressive with them and running in to them for the push is very reliable (edit: you do need to dodge backwards immediately after pushing ofc), same with dogs actually, be aggressive and get stuck in.

The most dangerous thing about Bursters is normally my teammates that shoot them as I go in for the push. If I have a team that does that I change tactic and let my team deal with them instead, which occasionally ends in their deaths

  1. If they are far away and I can afford spending ammo and I know I can easily kill them by shooting - shoot it
  2. If they are close - push them
  3. If my or somebody else’s push knocked them down, but they didn’t explode - shoot them until they explode

Thus, if you see somebody pushing burster, but them not exploding - keep away from it, and help shooting it if you wish

And if you hear one ticking, and you suspect it may be behind a corner or nearby spawn door - keep away from there.

I think the lower aggro node is really messing with the already weird burster behavior for scums. But if you run that node its karking deserved.

while under normal conditions bursters are a minor quicktime event chore, lately the server jank has visibly increased at least on my end.

eu servers 30-50 latency but enemies pulling themselves towards you on invisible ice skates and the odd burster not registering a fully animated push movement on my client side.

weapon swap etc sometimes afflicted by similar delays

100% my experience since last update. Poxbursters and dogs are still hitting me even after what looks like perfect counter-play (dodge to side during apex of leap, dog passes by side but then magnetizes to me. Push poxburster and dodge backwards, explosion still hits me). Also unplayable amounts of lag here and there which I’ve NEVER experienced before (it won’t even let me switch weapons).

Push… on all classes. Unless they’re very far away, and far away from any other team mates who may be going in for a push, then will I attempt to shoot them. Or some ability that pushes them back.

The one exception is flame staff Psyker primary attack with it’s stagger.

Its the silent or near silent bursters that does my head in, you are fighting a big mixed hordes, dodging mutants, dogs and trappers, and the burster audio gets drowned out to a point where you dont get an audio cue until the burster is mid air.

Last night two bursters did a synchronized divebomb on me, i heard one beep, spun around to push and instantly blew up.
