What is the chance of a balance update soon? (new player asking)

Is balance updates a thing in this game?
Does Fatshark has some kind of routine when they publish something?
What should I realistically expect in terms of new content?

Yes, they like to make big sweeping changes.

No.

Only the God-Emperor knows.

If balance adjustments are not made, this game will inevitably decline.
At the very least, the CM has stated that the DS and plasma will be nerfed in the next update.
Given that, it’s highly likely the Arbites will also face a similar downgrade.
However, based on Fatshark’s track record, their approach to balancing is worrying, they often end up making something so weak it becomes useless, or conversely, over-buffing it to the point where it completely dominates the meta.

Oh you sweet summer child.

Some actual decent and noticeable adjustments (though usually not nearly enough for their cadence) at best quarter yearly. Some minor, though occasionally great smaller adjustments here and there in between.

TL;DR expect nothing fast, keep expectations low to avoid frustration.

I feel like, wether they nerf everything that’s on the top right now, there will always be a meta that outshines everything else. I wouldn’t worry about it or, play something else.

Recently they said they wanted to do balance updates more frequently than every 3-6 months

they have still yet to do that.

DS and plasma..that’s the nerf priority in the current meta? :joy: :joy: :joy:

Close to zero lol. I reckon they’ll keep milking Arbite till the end of the year, probably putting it on sale with a small discount around end of it. So they’ll keep it OP until then. Then may be they’ll start gradually nerfing it. Unless ofc they’ll choose the stupid man’s solution of buffing other classes to not upset the casuals who invested in Arbite just to feel themselves cool and powerful - adding tons of powercreep and breaking the game completely in the process.

oh well if plasma and ds get nerfed, there’s even less for the other human classes to keep up with arbitrator.

Leaked plasma change was more of a sidegrade, buffing charged shots. I give it two weeks before 0.25 second charged shots are the new light spam but overall I think it’s worth trying.

That means increasing the number of balance updates to ~4 per year. Unlikely to be an evenly spaced three months between patches due to summer/Christmas holidays but let’s hope the next one is soon.

one of their directors is on record saying they basically dgaf if people stay or not, so long as they get numbers when they release a paid DCL. Don’t expect any real change until they have something else to sell.

Abyssus just released and feels way more fun then this

Well basically there needs to be one this month or they’re just sticking to the same cadence of balance updates tied to content updates.

50% but they usually don’t announce it that far ahead, at best 2-3 weeks before release.

This is like being that guy who wants to start working out, but just doesn’t feel like managing their schedule to actually do it.

My play-hours are down to less than an hour a week (contact with an out of state sib). I regret buying the DLC, and won’t buy anything else unless the balance/powercreep situation improves significantly.

I got into the ‘Tide games because they were great games. VT2 had some rough spots - some really rough spots - but overall the game was still great. ATM I don’t even think of DT as “good.” I know that’s more about squandered potential than DT actually being bad. Still … I’ve got other things to spend time and money on.

No they’re not. Here’s the actual quote:

Overall, Magnuson’s happy: “Our philosophy is that, as long as you come back when we do an update, we’re happy. We don’t think it’s possible to have the entire playerbase playing the game forever, constantly, so as long as they come back, we’re super happy.”

“We don’t think it’s possible to have the entire playerbase playing the game forever, constantly…”

I don’t know why I didn’t see it as clearly before, but they don’t even believe in themselves and their product.

Why should I keep believing in it?

It’s a game in a sea of games. You should play it while it’s fun for you. If it’s not fun, leave and come back when they update it quarterly to see if it’s fun. It won’t cost you anything.
