What I'd like next: are bots with brains :)

Everyone has their “I’d like this next”. For me; it’s the bots.

They spawn in. They stand around next to your downed body for 2-3 seconds, getting their bearings. They’re pretty rubbish at shooting things. Though they must have stacked every block efficiency and stamina curio under the sun.

They follow one player around. Dog & Master. What about other players?

They’re … unusually centred towards playing the vet (?!)

Come on FS - it’s time to deploy some AI. Think what it unlocks:

  • Take a break (again, OMG, l4d had this 20 years ish ago)
  • Solo mode
  • QoL for serial quitters
  • Continued immersion if the population dwindles and/or you move to Client Side stuff.

Where is it guys? I don’t want to get tangled in the solo mode, but really, come on. The pathings can’t be that hard?!

on a serious note, i do enjoy space marine 2 purely solo, not relying on anyones pacing but my own and bots there got me through ruthless (second highest, highest at the point of recording) no problem.

so darktide having 3 of your chars with the equip you pick as bots would be great.
that would basically be solo by then, 2 birds one stone.

yea bots should prioritize ressing
most of the time, they are stuck in fighting back enemies when they should go for ressing :laughing:

Literally just make sure they can never take a charge from medicae stations. Insane they can still do this.

also bots should pick up stimms/ ammo crates and medikits and potentially give to real players (they cant for some reasons)
and it was a feature since vermintide 2 bots being able to pick up stuff nearby

bots in vt2 were able to ult i think as well
in darktide i believe they can’t

Pepperidge farm remembers VT1 bots grabbing potions, meds, bombs, and sometimes grims/scrips with some convincing, and hand them to the player(s) when they used theirs.

Why this didn’t translate to DT is beyond me.

That and how much better weapon skins and darkness effects were done in VT1 made me think they got rid of the people responsible.

I think the vermintide devs are a separate team, considering that VT2 is still being developed and they just announced a whole progression rework.

There’s only vet bots because that’s all the devs finished. You can see other class bots in the final section of the intro mission and their AI is just as bad if not worse. The Zealot bot has a TH but will only ever use light attacks. The Ogyrn will empty his Stubber into the wall. And I don’t think the Psyker ever does any Psyker specific thing.

It was truly a spectacle watching all 3 of my bots in vermintide consecutively ult against the first elite they see only to be defenseless when they really needed it. While it would be more useful to have shout bots (bots otherwise generate toughness VERY SLOWLY), it’s still multiple bots with basically the AI of 1.

Do VT2 bots still completely stop using ranged attacks as soon as they hit 50% ammo?
