Fair enough. Wouldn’t mind more challenges, as long as Fatshark can make it work well. I’ve seen people just run away from Crusher packs and bosses, not knowing how or having the right loadout to engage them in any meaningful way.
Why does everyone want crafting honestly atm you can get decent weapons. Worst case you have just 2 good blessings and 2 trash perks (you can edit 2 things)
So you can get more than auric ready equipment.
But honestly content wise 3 new missions new boss new maelstrom and mission modifiers.
Also ambush from captains like the karnak twin event be great.
Also having a actual difficulty … Not Damnation being balanced around average xbox player iq. Latest daemonhost changes laughable…
No one likes RNG and the shop. Especially with their way of acquiring items is terrible. An hourly store and Brunt’s Armory that is a money dump. And then when you finally get a good item base it is bricked because you got something you don’t want like +1.5 stam or sprint efficiency. It demoralizes the player to actually continue playing the game.
I think Definition of good most people wamt 80 80 80 80 50
But honestly i only care for my vet to get perfect weapons.
I use literally poop % stat distribution aslong the dmg and finnese is good. I am using a lawbringer with 30% ammo but 70-80 everywhere else cause blessings and perks are match in heaven.
I’d say brunt shop should be baseline 360 and would reduce the amount of wasted ordos.
The rng omnissiah crafting is just fair enough. If you think cause of 1 shitty or meh perk your gun is bricked that’s just on you.
Stat distribution is understandable in some way but people be like “it’s trash” if it isn’t god tier.
Several reasons:
A: It’s generally just fundamentally inherent to most games, particularly of this type, to chase gear and perfections or capabilities or whatever. That’s a fairly basic game design premise and player incentive that nobody has offered a good reason for not fulfilling. In this case, what Fatshark implemented is literally a gambling mechanism from Gacha games. This is designed to generate frustration, but only so it can be bypassed with lots of in game resources or cash. Fatshark doesn’t do this however, so the system just generates frustration with no outlet.
B: Even just getting the blessings is often a frustrating, highly inconsistent, unrewarding experience, then you’ve got to find an appropriate weapon to put them on which can take weeks worth of ordo dockets to find as Brunt munches through hundreds of thousands of Ordo dockets spitting out 316 and 332 level weapons before you hit something 360+ much less actually 380 (where it often will proceed to have the most critical stat dumped and functionally useless much of the time to boot).
C: Often the perks matter as much as the blessings. Your 380-perfect roll ideal-blessings Boss-smasher hammer getting stuck with Poxwalker Damage and Block Efficiency perks may be less useful than a weapon with lower stats and less ideal blessing levels but +25% Unyielding.
Ultimately it means progression, since its down to gear only at 30, is entirely a slot machine, and that’s highly unrewarding.
Ogryn’s super secret unleaked weapon, known only to Grendyl: the Brass Knuckles. Trying my best to avoid cliches, here’s a few things that come to my mind.
-
Ogryn Power Maul rework because I’d like to see it have some kind of niche. If not that, some whacky new blessings that let you know you’ve got an Ogryn using Power Maul on your team. I feel similarly about the Grenade Gauntlet. The Grenade Punch should be cooler, at the very least.
-
More weapons for Ogryn. His current arsenal is high quality but it needs more variety and not simply more derivative marks.
-
More Psyker staves, Smite reworked so the game stops encouraging new Psykers to spam it everywhere at the cost of doing anything else, slightly better melee nodes on their tree.
-
New, different kinds of bosses and elites. I actually think this is the biggest long term change the game could receive because FatShark clearly have a problem on their hands trying to keep some ranged weapons feeling great and useful without them outright trivializing the game for everyone else in the match. Plasma Gun is the most obvious example, being awesome to fire but so boring to witness and play with. If there were different and tougher enemies added then there would be some incentive to save Plasma Gun shots rather than use it to destroy every elite cluster imaginable. Fatshark are also seemingly open to testing stuff so new enemies could be tested in private to make for interesting new situations.
-
An exclusive ranged weapon for Zealot that is not a flamer!
-
Veteran Smoke Grenades replaced, Marksman’s Focus reworked.
In the immediate:
- Hopefully a new special assignment every 3 months.
- An overhaul and expansion for penances. The old ones need to be bug-fixed and we could use a bunch of new ones around the new blitzes, abilities, and talents. It’d be nice to have some earnable cosmetics with that.
In a bit longer term:
- The implementation of the seasonal system they talked about. I figure they planned some sort of battle-pass thing (hopefully with a player-friendly design) to give Sister Hestia something to do and to help fill out all the quirky little side options like new haircuts or victory poses or whatever.
- Red weapons. Collect enough books (or some other arbitrary objective) and when you fill up the objective bar boom you get the red. With maxed stats (at 80% or 100%, it doesn’t really matter, whichever they pick will become the new balance anyway) and no locks. Any perk or blessing can be changed any number of times but doing so is relatively expensive. And that alone would pretty much fix crafting. It’d be nice if you could select it and work towards a specific one but if it is to be randomly rewarded then make them relatively easier to get than they otherwise would be.
- And, of course, new weapons and new maps on a periodic basis. Some more Repairs and Investigates for the love of the Emperor, please. I was initially looking forward to getting to use a bunch of the cool Inquisition and Rogue Trader gear which we should have access to at least after lvl 30 like exotic weaponry or even xenos weapons but this weird focus on shovels has me thinking we’re going to be stuck on the poop end of the 40k gear spectrum. So be it, but some dual weapons, more shields, and 2h weapons for ogryns would be nice.
i left the game because of the asinine, hostile and ineffectual crafting system. Now that I’ve seen Helldivers 2 made in the same engine, they can keep Darktide… it’s low skill crap in comparison
A is okay it used to be worse.
B Is understandable if your new but at one point you got your blessings via rng or melk.
You can’t expect to play 10h or whatever it takes to get S rated gear. after 40 h you can get 4-5 loadouts which are A-Tier quality with decent rng luck
C No. Your perks don’t matter in the grand scheme on most guns. You might hit a breakpoint but that is time to time valuable. Will your weapon be overall efficient? yes but perks are not as major as the stats from the weapon and blessings. So you can overlook it.
Flak and Unyielding is always nice to have for my melee otherwise I can most of the time change 1 perk and 1 blessing and sometimes you get 2 perfect perks and 2 trash blessings.
It could be worse but it is at a decent state.
They just have to make the GOOD WEAPON rng stat be less grindy. It doesnt make sense for a lvl 30 char to get anything below 360 point lvl cause it affects the blessings / perks (lower weapon score = t2 blessings etc) It’s good enough for auric that breakpoint won’t be used 80% of the time if we take crushers as example. If your a 4stack in coherency team they melt either way so your breakpoint is just redundant in full group.
In a nutshell crafting is the least priority for this game atm. Cause sincerely if you dont have good decent gear your not the playerbase with the retention to stick to it even if crafting would be arguably better. The lack of content and fresh stuff is bringing this game down and boring Mk13241235253 marks of weapons. Also the continues nerfs to auric damnation missions to make normies be able to play the “hardest difficulty” as seen with daemonhost
Captain Wolfer at least
and a backend fix so no one gets locked the frick out of their account
I guess that’s a fair point I hadn’t really thought about. I always play in a premade so we always have at least 1 (but usually 3-4) people with loadouts capable of taking down Crushers confidently. I guess it comes down to how much Fatshark wants or thinks randoms can pre strategize before going into a mission (change pre mission timer please).
On another note, I don’t think I fully explained myself. I think individual enemies should be more dangerous, but that there should be less specialist and melee elites in general. This would not only help with game pacing, but would also help alleviate some of the current audio issues.
There should still be times where you are getting swamped, and on Auric this should include a healthy amount of specialists and melee elites, but it shouldn’t a be a constant stream of them through the whole mission.
I don’t hope for anything.
Because hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.
Let’s just say… I’m intrigued to see what they come up with after months of silence.
There is nothing to say that hasn’t already been mentioned, so I will just pile on:
Fishtank enthusiasts. Where da khantent at?
it really doesn’t have to be an either/or situation though. We can have reworked blessings at the same time of a reworked crafting system. Those are two independent systems and can be worked on simultaneously.
Let’s be honest with ourselves: it’s Fatshark. It’s an either-or situation because they’re horrifically inefficient.
Crafting is the obvious one, and i do hope it would be more than just “Here, no more locks for you”. My hope is they would take inspiration from v2 weaves but at this point i think this is a stupid dream.
Blessings/perks system really needs an update in my view. Many of them suck, many are boring, some are just stupidly good. I would honestly go balls to the wall here and even rework this entirely. Take some inspiration from say Call of dutys pick ten system and suddenly you can even make lower tier blessings mean something.
If rework is out of question for whatever reason, then at least balance these things more often than twice a year. Preferably each patch should see 1-2 things tweaked.
Maps, zones, enemy types, maelstrom mods, new weapons, etc that i forgot in no particular order are also welcome.
I don’t value them ultra highly at this point, because if say a new map with couple new weapons were to come out tomorrow, i would sure play it for day or maybe week or two, but that’s it. Its not content for me that has any real staying power.
But realistically what i’m expecting to happen is exactly that 1 new area to play in and maybe 1-2 weapons.
These fundamental issues with the game also murder good word of mouth. They lost out on over a year of good word of mouth because so many people refuse to recommend the game because of the crafting system and other issues even though the gameplay is great.
Having read the thread it’s basically:
- Fix fundamental systems issues.
and 2. Expand amount of fresh feeling hours that can be played.
And the best answers for those two issues are fix crafting and add dynamic maps of some kind.
3 new maps, 1-2 story, 3rd is boss.
2 range weapons per class, one short-mid range, one mid-long.
1 melee weapon per class
For patch 18 I hope they will fix 3 things, 2 of which won’t work, and introduce a couple new issues. I temper my expectations you see
