the first question “what do you expect” lacks one option: “not much”.
yes, ideally i’d like a new archetype plus a new faction and several new missions to put the new guy and the enemies to good use.
in the end, it will be maybe one new map and 1-2 weapons for vet because that’s what they announced half a year ago.
as for a balance pass, i said several times that having a wide variety of good weapons is better than insisting on some meta, but then they have this tendency to apply nuclear levels of “slight nerfs”.
we had recent topics like a couple more usable faces and haircuts and a catalog of already released cosmetics like helldivers has. wouldn’t be bad.
As nice as it would have been to have a new archetype with a cyber-mastiff (Hired Gun hivers Rise up!) , it will be bad as long as the slop shop remains in its current state, since, let’s be honest, the free ingame skins (and the majority of slop shop skins too), except foe the Havoc skins, are terrible.
If Fatshark is going to create a new archetype, they’ve got to unlock human clothing so that they (the ones that make sense cross-archetype) can be worn by any human archetype, regardless of the archetype.
I understand that GW may be fussy about what gear goes on who, but with the rotating shop, it will be several years before the new class has any drops to chose from otherwise.
What do I expect from Darktide’s “Skulls” show? Nothing, but I’m hoping for a pleasant surprise, though I won’t hold my breath.
I’m mostly looking forward to Fatshark’s subtitles (hearing aid) person on the video because they are always a banger to read!
Vermintide 2 will most likely showcase cool stuf, like previews for the new weapons!
We need two-handed sword Necromancer. Sien… Ehrmmmm… Sofia!!!
I think/hope maybe for a new class, just because it would make sense given the ever so small teaser on top of what all’s already been said in here, and with them releasing Mortis Trials as a ‘for fun’ game mode for people to level up in effectively…
Well, tbh, I don’t believe that we will get a class that use a pet.
As I say, I don’t think it is a good idea for the game. It was for VT2, as Warhammer Fantasy (I was game master for this RPG) has such careers.
But I don’t think it is for Darktide. And I don’t say that to try to voice an opinion against anything, as obviously, they have everything ready for tomorrow.
I would be really surprised if we have a new archetype. I would really love it, but I don’t believe in it.
I’m not sure about new class, but maybe a new weapon that provides cybermastiff ability, with blessings all around pet.
They have doggy animations/rig already with pox hound. And summons ai from V2. Since they don’t invent much, but add reimagined everything exists in V2 already (in many cases ending up with worse version), this is a nobrainer option.
Also the font they used in that teaser. It’s clearly something military-police styled, rough and heavy. You probably not gonna tease genestealers with golden metalic font, but flesh&bones motives, spikes and worm/snake curves.
I expect nothing because last year already happened and was possibly one of the wettest dull fart ‘updates’ of all. There have been hotfixes more exciting.
I am demanding - not anticipating or expecting - the Veteran weapon they didn’t get in December 2024. This is still overdue owed content, because they said it was coming. Pay what you owe.
This is the correct behavior, I think a lot of people need to temper their expectations for stuff like this, if you do at worst you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
They announced SoTMG last year. I very much doubt we’re getting a big content release tomorrow, but expect to at least learn what’s coming in the next seasonal update.
Edit: and looking thru the big ol hotfix code updates, we’re getting what looks like a new event with an insignia as a reward for skulls. So, better than last year at least! There are a ton of edits in the code…nothing I’m 100% certain on, but I do find it interesting that they’re touching the character select screen for the first time in months!
I expect new weapons for veteran, one or two missions and a class rework. In other words, I expect nothing extraordinary.
And I fear that a lot here expect a lot… and that we will get little.
Due to the lack of balance adjustments and repeated off-target updates, Darktide currently has one foot in the grave as a dead game. The only recent update I thought was decent was the Ogryn rework. If the next update doesn’t turn things around, Helldivers 2 will completely overshadow it.
lol it’s already “completely overshadowed” by HD2. But the average player numbers are relatively healthy, and better than nearly all of VT2’s history (despite nearly identical all-time-peak players)…and VT2 ain’t dead.
