If you don’t see it you don’t see it. Would you call a stranger in person or a friend a “whiner” or a “loud mouth” as part of constructive criticism or as a way to move a healthy debate? To me it seems more like undergoing personal catharsis at the expense of someone else. Which is common place on the net, but most people talk aggressively when they disagree with others on the internet. Levels of aggressiveness is subjective/relative so can’t really give you an absolute metric.
Don’t you think it would be a little aggressive, if I called you a spaztic, whiny, toxic loudmouth with personality issues, who makes unreasonable demands all the time and somehow gets his way?
I’d disagree. Especially after release, the aggressive and obvious exploitation of whales was pretty clear. ‘Premium’ cosmetics not being play-unlockable is also egregious, especially considering the price tag of the ‘complete’ game and the general lack of content overall.
I feel they definitely scaled back their monetization plans after community outrage, but concernedly they were careful not to make any real changes or promises. Some major players in the GaaS industry are listed in the game’s credits, so I think it’s naive to think they won’t push monetization in every way possible. I think they chilled out a bit, to actually finish the game, but I think content monetization is paused, but it’ll be back with a vengeance eventually. The entire game was redone halfway through development to fit that GaaS model, they are definitely not gonna abandon it now.
I agree this is bad and I don’t really like it but none of it necessarily means that they’re suddenly gonna crank the predatory monetization up to 11 first chance they get. So far all we have is a premium cosmetics shop that no longer really feels like it’s designed to trick you into going there since they moved the gun store, and they haven’t released new premium cosmetics since the backlash to the launch. You can chalk that all up as being just a reaction to the backlash but then that means FS actually does listen to the players and they’re not solely interested in squeezing the whales, or under the thumb of big scary evil Tencent (who doesn’t have majority stake in the company iirc so there isn’t much reason they could push FS that hard into doing something they weren’t already planning on doing). I know there are rumors of premium cash time saver boosters coming in the future but I try not to be in the habit of causing a stink over rumors. When those rumors have more substance I’ll start complaining about predatory monetization again.
Of course I wish FS would just follow the DRG model and make it so you can earn all cosmetics through gameplay, and premium stuff is just for people who want to throw more money at a game they like (I was ready to be a good little paypig for this game until the launch was a disaster), but unfortunately the state of the game industry is such that I expect much worse than what’s in DT right now.
There’s a “true level” mod that does something similar to the overlevel display in vt2, but the interesting thing to note is that there is a “show prestige level” option that appears to be separate from the base overlevel. Maybe they might include a prestiging system similar to hunt showdown in which you can use to unlock skins? I myself am not a fan of that particular system, and I never engaged in it while I played Hunt (why would I purposely remove the fun aspects of the game just to get skins?), but it is interesting to make note of for a possible future monetization direction of theirs.
To be honest I think fatshark should pay all our airfare fly us all to their hq and we can have a massive fight. It would be great the devs could all join in too then we can all go for a drink afterwards. I for one would like to punch the guy who nerfed my power sword. That mf got it coming let me tell you.
Debate’s are boring lets sort it all out the old fashioned way
Not to the extent which it was taken though. Whether it “needed” a nerf is a debate that can be had by those whom wish to do so, but the solution to redress the illusive, ever-nebulous game balance was taken so far in the opposite direction that the weapon was rendered un-fun. Please note that I did not say “ineffective”. The powersword could have been made 10x more powerful, but ultimately that’s less important than whether it’s fun to use anymore. Which it’s not. Because it’s a clunky, cumbersome chore now.
What makes it worse is that we all remember what it used to be like, and these changes were implemented in such a way that it seemed like a punishment. And frankly, all too often anyone who expressed disappointment with the changes was immediately greeted with a slew of insults that had all the depth of something written on a bumper sticker.
I’ve heard that with Power Cycler it’s less of a nightmare to use now, but I wouldn’t know because even after 958 hours logged, I’ve never seen one once, despite having had another mk added.
I’m willing to concede that perhaps the pre-nerf variants needed to receive adjustments since so many other players apparently took exception to it for so long. Fine. I disagree, but I’ll make that compromise out of care for my peers. Conversely, I’d ask the same of you. The fact that this is still a topic of contention demonstrates others who do not share your point of view are greatly dissatisfied and feel hurt. Ultimately, it is now a compromise which is clearly NEEDED.
I’ll agree it’s not a fun weapon to use without power cycler, now that I’m on veteran.
A good tweak to the sluggishness would go a long way, it already feels like it does sub-par damage unpowered compared to other options.
Also, question to the community: what’s up with rampage vs. slaughterer on the PS? I have slaughterer 1 & rampage 3 unlocked so far and it seems like slaughterer 1 is head and shoulders above rampage in every way, even with that level difference. Am I missing something or are the blessings just horrendously unbalanced?
yeah, slaughter is in every aspect better than rampage. rampage is just dmg increase, where slaughter power, which is dmg, stagger, cleave. plus maybe more
on my PS in have slaughter t3 with BM t4. 400 vet hours logged with about 500 vet games and i have not seen a single PC…
the PS i have i found in dec 2022 and since then i did not find anything better, thats as much as progression goes in this game
I mean considering that rampage needs 3 targets to activate and only modifies 1 stat, slaughterer only needs one target and modifies all, for a longer period, and stacks…I feel like rampage should have double the effect that slaughterer does to compensate.
I can’t even play it anymore since I upgraded my system. It just crashes after loading in and I’m not bothering with a bughunt.
What drove me away initially was the lack of content. After repeating the same maps a dozen times it got stale. I tried out the other classes, but the maps were already boring so that didn’t last long either. To get at least some variety I then had to interact with the crafting system and that was the last nail in the coffin for me.
I’ll check back in after a BIG content update. Hell, maybe I’ll even play the game!
yes, totally i wonder if FS has telemetry to check how much extra dmg given blessing or perk realy does per each weapon.
honestly i doubt they have it, otherwise they would balance it out. without such info balancing will be done on gut feeling which is faaar from what you would expect for modern software
