Melta gun should become a new weapon for Zealot and Vet with the main mechanic of it being insane damage with a trade off that you cannot restore any ammo during the mission or can only restore little of it via ammo crate.
Yeah… pretty much this. Why prioritise X when you can sell a new class, where X is any of:
- Balancing the game
- Introducing new weapons
- Making new maps
- Improving stability
- Actually using modifiers (perhaps… in… custom lobbies!?)
I really hope that won’t be the case, but if this comes to pass you can bet I’ll be eager to offer up an addition to the Book.
Aye, and the worst part is it’s not even that they’re money-grubbing, it’s that they’re genuinely bad at trying to be money-grubbing, like they’ve got C-suites and senior Dev’s who are neck-deep exploring every possible videogame monetization practice, and then getting bored and moving on before actually properly implementing it, and that makes it even worse.
Introduce a new class? If you’re not going to do any free cosmetics, why offer only one paid cosmetic for basically the entire year of its release? Why introduce a new product line and then immediately fail to support it? That’s like planting a crop and then…not harvesting it.
Same way the original crafting system felt built around a Gacha-mechanic system but with no monetization outlet to milk the player frustration Fatshark spent to much time actively engineering into the game.
That is genuinely the sort of thing that should get a senior manager or C-suite somewhere fired for basic business incompetence. Someone should genuinely be professionally embarrassed over these sorts of things, but FS doesn’t appear terribly bothered by them.
While fair on the other weapons (and I don’t think the backpack is the main issues with their inclusion), if I’m not mistaken, the power cables on that Volleygun image are actually supposed to go to a backpack and are just a weird representation in that pic, the cables don’t just plug into the butt of the gun after originating from a powerpack, and while we do have models with Autocannons, Heavy Stubbers, and Hellguns without backpacks, I’m unaware of any Volleyguns without them. I think the bigger thing is that FS appears to largely be sticking to things typically found in basic Guard infantry squads, so while that may include plasma guns and power swords, it’s not typically Hotshot weapons or individually-carried heavy weapons (as opposed to heavy weapons teams).
This reminds me about some comments of the Power Falchion, because Fatshark said that “Veteran will get new things soon”, and it was just a melee weapon (for the class whose abilities are made to work around range weapons) 10 months later, basically a smaller Relic Blade.
why do you want guns on vet’s a melee class
I don’t think elements like Executioner’s Stance and Marksman’s Focus are made for melee, and curiously Veteran don’t have access to melee weapons with perks of Toughness Regeneration through chained hits compared to Zealot, Ogryn and Arbiter.
He was being sarcastic.
Oh alright, time ago I had a similar talk with someone in reddit (but that person was being serious about “Veteran is a melee class” lol). ![]()
Power Falchion would have been a totally cromulent addition if it wasn’t added by its freaking lonesome. But we all half expected that when they said ‘veterans will get a weapon later!’ It really took an entire year to make a weapon that swaps the Relic’s active/recover times around slightly. For some reason people say Fat Shark is phoning it in, and then they silence naysayers with incredibly deep content adds like this..
I see this often and I think it’s just people being contrarian. They see knee-jerk hate, so they react with knee-jerk love instead of actually looking at the facts.
As an example of this same thing, I like Hive Scum thematically, but I genuinely can not believe how often I read things like “Hive Scum might not be thematically what people wanted but it’s about what it actually adds to the game and it looks so fun!” like the class isn’t just 3 copypasted abilities from the standard ‘selfbuff, aoe aura buff’ repertoire with boring auras, blitzes and keystones and almost certainly an extremely limited pool of weapons to use just like arbites.
Melta weapons would be good. Melta Gun for Veteran and Inferno pistol for Zealot.
People were hoping for a power sword rework to make it like the relic blade and something more than just a lazy copy-paste for the weapon, especially since it took so long. Melta weapons, a long-las, plasma pistols, something like that.
Fatshark, as we should have realized is typical, went the low-effort route instead. Some people pointed out it was almost certainly just going to be a ‘veteran relic blade’, and that’s all we got after nearly a year of waiting.
The devs factually cannot be reading these forums, nor care what the community thinks. This game is 3 years old with no weapon customization, no improvement to the in-game stores, no fixes to Havoc design, the worst server state in the game’s history, etc.
The game is on life support, fed by whales buying recolor skins and these half-baked new classes.
I think you’re feeding into your own bias a lot, a ton of people enjoy power sword and it is a popular choice even into havocs (unless the modifiers favor making enemies not respond to half the mechanics regarding melee). Changing that weapon into the relic blade would not have made them or me happy at all. If you don’t like the power button you did get your sword, but the entire game should have gotten other weapons too.
It seems they read or call me a prophet.
Some stuff i whined should be in the game:
- The ability for ogryn to push mobs on dodge (wasn’t only me)
- Parry for dual sword (wasn’t only me)
- Special action applying poison to Catachan sword (oddly specific, Ganger bonesaw special)
- Enrage state and enemy healer (well only in the form of color buffs)
- Golden toughness counter enemy (plasmagunner)
- Akimbo guns and stimm addiction for the ganger if it were in the game from the start (oddly specific, but not sure)
Now i’m wainting when they will add this either in a form of blessing or talent to make dmr/prcise weapons utilizing a bit more safe
Delete this!
Make Weapon Packs like PD2 did it. 5 Bucks for like 3-5 new weapons?
But maybe making Money isn’t their priority?
I find it appalling that we are in a 40k game where we play as regular humans which are known to use mostly guns and artillery to deal with threats far above their weight class and we never got any of the iconic 40k ranged weapons that weren’t included at launch. If Fatshark only wanted to do melee weapons for the rest of the existence of the game they should have done a Space Marine game, you know, the special force of the Imperium known to use melee as a shock tactic and that can actually fight in melee in lore when their opponent is a putrid slug the size of an elephant instead of making the malnourished humans fight daemonhosts and plague ogryns with a poop shovel
Psyker hasn’t gotten a new staff since the launch of the game, too.
