I told myself that so long as the store remained its FOMO mess, I wouldn’t buy the paid classes - not when cosmetics were implicitly supposed to pay for all the development, a necessary sacrifice for cash flow and continued support.
I didn’t buy Arbites (a friend did gift it to me not knowing for last year’s christmas), I didn’t buy Hive Scum.
Unfortunately, I’m an Admech nerd. And I know myself. I know I’m not going to be able to resist the temptation. After all, I’ve spent a godawful amount of money on plastic crack for them, what’s twenty bucks to combine the faction I love with Darktide?
Look, either I support development via the cosmetics store, or I support it by buying classes. I refuse to do both, and of the two…classes are the less awful deal. At least I get good playtime out of it.
I’ve got nothing. Doesn’t appear to be enough people willing to give negative reviews about the game’s monetization or to actually organize such, and Fatshark has remained very much deaf-mute on the subject of said monetization, so unless you want to put forth the effort…I’m just venting.
Look on the bright side. Not only do classes like Skitarii and Arbitrator/Ganger give you way more bang for your buck than cosmetics, but they won’t be squirreled away in service to a FOMO dark pattern so you can pick and choose when you purhase them on your own time.
Not to mention that you won’t be in much danger being tempted to buy Admech cosmetics, not with Fatshark apparently being deathly afraid of making any kind of new cosmetic for paid if Arbitrator and Hive Ganger are anything to go by.
and why should one if it brings satisfaction spending the paper sheets you sold part of your lifetime for?
40k got me hooked, i went on a binch spree and now got a room full of mcfarlane figures both darktide and space marines
conan exiles had an enhanced version couple days back that re-ignited my passion for hyboria again, suddenly snake men from savage crucible and conan figures start “popping up” out of nowhere
all bills paid, all dues settled, last shirt still got no pocket so why hold back ?
I want to buy more cosmetics but they are all the same. I have like 5k hours so I’m not feeling hurt. However I am only moderately whelmed by skitarii myself, pretty much only interested in the novelty of more helpers. I already don’t play psyker/arbites/scum very much, I don’t need to add more classes I wanna dodge most of the time.
