Weapons I Would Love In Darktide

Ogryn:

  • Two-Handed Chainaxe
  • One-Handed Axe + Slab Shield

Various (As in; Not sure what class they could belong to):

  • Two-Dagger Fighting. (Special could be the counter-attack, just like the Devil Sword has)
  • Sword + Gun (Special attack fires the gun. Just like Saltz from Vermintide)
  • Power Scythe (Because I love scythe weapons)
  • Halberd/Glaives (See my idea on “Stances” below)

New Special Attack Idea: Stances
Instead of just having an offhand punch, or a flashlight, for special attacks, why not such things as Special Ammo, Firing Mode Toggles, and Stances (The last is for melee weapons.)
For examples:
A Halberd could start with wide sweeps and an overhead slash. Press the ‘Special Attack’ button, and it changes to stabs and thrusts.
A Lasgun could have a default firing mode that is low RoF. Press the Special Attack button, and it toggles the firing rate to be higher.
Or a gun could load special ammo (That sets people on fire, is solid slug instead of spread shot, etc). But this ammo is limited.

Problem with that one is that Ogryn lorewise don’t get chain weapons.

Like the Shotguns ?

Well dang. Because it’d be vicious.

Yeah. I don’t use the shotguns, so I had to buy a grey one to check. But yeah.

there’s definitely a 2H chainaxe coming but not for ogg.

I’ll just take this opportunity to do what I always do when this topic is brought up:

Spears

Spears. Unwieldy up too close, but with precision pokes with longer range than any other melee. Something that would do extra dmg when striking from that ideal distance, but less dmg from too close. An expert weapon, which if properly handled would let you outpace most melee enemies while taking them down with cleaving, armopiercing headshots.

And I want them on psykers. :smiling_imp:

I wish i could use a power fist.

If we’re doing melee weapons, then I would love to see:

  • Storm Shield
  • Power Fist, because why wouldn’t you?!
  • A new Power Sword
  • Ogryn Sword
  • Polearms
Summary of my ideas

Storm Shield
Make it the centre of the weapon family. Each Mark is a different weapon, so, and this is very roughly, Heavy Sword + shield, Tactical Axe + shield, Shock Maul + shield.

New Power Sword
Aesthetically an Imperial Guard-style Power Sword with a wide, heavy blade and full knuckle/basket-hilt using Relic Blade’s powerfield-heat mechanic. God-Emperor, please make it so for this unworthy servant of your ineffable glory!

Ogryn Sword
We’re talking a tall, wide bar of metal which has had cloth/synthleather wrapped around one end to make a grip, and with one side ground into a blade shape with an edge.

Polearms
I’m thinking one family of weapons, each Mark a different type of polearm. Shock Spear, Glaive, Halberd: super-single target with shock field, a swooshy AoE slashy one, Halberd in-between but good at anti-armour with both axe-head overhead swings and spike thrust (as the special).

Think having Storm shield (Suppression Shield rather) as a global weapon family would be detrimental to its design capacity.

Same thing for Polearms.

As there are way to many weapon family I’d rather see, I’ll keep to 2 melee, and 2 ranged per archetype, and I’m not considering paired weapon (though I want Dual Chain Axes)

Veteran:

  • Catachan Dueling Glaive
  • Hunting Lance (Different Marks give access to different charges)
  • PSword/Duel Sword and Pistol
  • Plasma Pistol

(Hotshot I consider to be rather better kept for a new ability set)

Zealot:

  • Chain Flail
  • Power Sword and Suppression Shield (Special is PSword activation, Suppression shield ‘replace’ the push/push attack)
  • Hand Flamer
  • Vindicator

Ogryn:

  • Mace-Fist
  • Spudjacker
  • Multilaser
  • Heavy Bolter

Psyker:

  • Biomantic Sword (Retooled Fire Sword from VT2)
  • Shiver Blade (maybe, not really fussed)
  • Void Frost Staves (Astropath, Cryogenic techniques, stealing heat to freeze people)
  • Warp Bow (Working as a ‘low tech’ Psybolt weapon
