hi yes, waiter? can you take this back to the kitchen? this isnt what i ordered.
man, i thought i was already jaded by the abysmal cosmetics in the game and so i expected almost nothing from the reveal.
to say i was floored by the complete and total shock of a character i and countless others had no interest in is an understatement. we spent weeks praying to the emperor that it wouldnt be a ganger, yet they still managed to choose the lowest hanging fruit possible to make a class out of (hilariously the class is also just the veteran background).
i expected it to be disappointing and i was still surprised by it. im so damn tired of this.
to the ones that love it, enjoy. ill see yall once the 3rd class comes out.
Am a little bothered that ganger is already included as a background option for vet and you can easily cosplay as a ganger with all the hobo rags in the fomo shop. Not to mention good on fatshark for gatekeeping dual wielding behind a paid class. At least am sure fatshark will deliver on gameplay tho i dont plan to buy this class.
I donât think any of the class-exclusive weapons will be usable by other classes (so same deal as Arbites), but unless something has changed for DT, âdual-wieldingâ isnât a system. Itâs a style of weapon. The Hiver is just getting the first weapon where we hold two weapons (rather than a weapon and a shield).
Indeed itâs not a real system or even has an interesting design â itâs just two barrels and a bigger magazine. Like the stubbers for Ogryn with different animation. BUT maybe it is a system, and weâll be able to mix and match one-handed weapons? Like, you know, every dam character in 90% of any promo art of Warhammer 40k ever?
I personally like the concept of a hive ganger and it fits Darktide well, but I donât think theyâre doing a great job on the execution part so far. Trailer was bad and failed to actually sell people on it, the aesthetics are like a weird mix of going for the necromunda style while not going far enough, and the talents seem like thereâs not much interesting going on right now.
Maybe with more info before release this will change, but right now Iâm a bit confused as to why Fatshark isnât trying to sell this concept harder.
TBH my anger has resided a bit and I will almost certainly buy the DLC simply becuase itâs something (anything!) new and helps pay FS to keep making content.
But I truly need them to use that money to go on a huge map making binge after this release. 6 new maps minimum. 3 of which should be in a new biome.
And they need to release all modifiers into permanent rotation.
These things MUST happen. Iâm bored TF with the same missions and modifiers.
Seeing this after checking prices for Star Citizen adds some savor
and no⌠50⏠for a starship on an unfinished game seemsâŚa little too much for me considering that the game looks arcadish - but as it is free to test actually, I will check it just to be able to say⌠I have played Star citizen
Iâm sure they would argue that they are keeping prices low on the gameplay stuff to keep things more accessible and only charging more for the things that people donât need to play the game.
Even if itâs crappy, the logic is there.
Would you rather they charged more for the dlc and less for cosmetics?
I canât help but think this whole bumbling rolling out comes of telling the audience what they want and not bothering to engage with them.
To put it another way: if they had been a bit more clued in and kept their ears to the ground, so to speak, itâs my supposition that theyâd have had something different to present. They might still have a lot of the same mechanics and features, but I wonder if theyâd have been packaged differently. As it stands, hive ganger, at best, just seems lazy.
@Badwin - I know you have said youâre interested in seeing what they do with it. My question is are you uniquely drawn to the ganger esthetic specifically, or would you be equally interested if it was reframed? âOrphaned Chapter Surfâ left on his own after his Astartes chapter was destroyed maybe, or whatever, just something less Mad Max-y?
Firstly, I donât think thereâs really been a fumble here. The trailer got delayed, and we got comms from FS saying they werenât happy about that fact. But weâre talking about a delay of a weekâŚand launching that alongside the talent breakdown is, imo, an improvement over what we got with the Arbites trailer (which was just the store page content).
I also donât believe that the class release choice is solely FSâs decision, which is probably why we saw Arbites launch first (alongside Rogue Traderâs release).
Iâm mostly in the Tide series for the gameplay (although the world building and dialogue and atmosphere are top-notch imo), so Iâm happy for any and all new classes. I was more hype for Arbites, but ultimately wasnât a huge fan of the class.
As for aesthetics: I wasnât asking for Scum, but I do like the anachro-punk look and the general lore. I also like that thereâs loads of material to draw from. And I lovvvve that weâll be getting more dialogue from lowly imperial citizens, something that I think Darktide is uniquely suited to do.
Iâd be just as excited about Ad Mech or Ratlings or Beastmen or Felinids or whatever. Itâs really more about the kit and gameplay.
Making the predictions that the current ganger cosmetics will become cross class with hive scum. This is based on Fat Shark making some announcement weeks back about changing cosmetics to be more âcustomer friendlyâ. The Arbitrators havenât gotten any additional cosmetics since release so lets give the player base a class that can repackage existing items.
