The Arbites Class DLC release comes alongside a free update that makes Darktide more narratively satisfying overall. Now, the mission board highlights some options as narrative missions, which will have extra voiceover and sometimes cutscenes (often cannily reused from the trailers that have accompanied updates) that introduce characters and escalate events. They’re a lot more interesting than the cutscenes we used to get every five levels, where a different member of the crew would deliver a variant on basically the same speech about how you still weren’t trustworthy yet. If you wished Darktide had something more like the experience of playing Vermintide’s levels in order, this will give you that, neatly guiding you up the difficulty settings as it does.
Hopefully we’ll see a better final product. At the very least difficulty levels look better, but still.
Orthus Offensive being on the board sounds pretty good on its own to me.
I could care less what the board looks like, as long as it functions better. And so far I just see good functional improvements here: 13 missions available for all difficulties is huge.
It isn’t in the book until I see the final product. Hopefully it’s better looking. Do definitely appreciate improved functionality but the way it’s arranged looks like a nightmare.
I hope they work on the modifier icons, since the number of modifiers is still rapidly running away from them and because of their insistence on having one icon to represent the entire set of modifiers and literally one icon for the vestigial secondary objectives, so many of the icons are missing information.
I think I understand your concern. I’ve watched some of my fave games die from splitting the player base. But, if QP stays the same, it shouldn’t hurt things on that front. What it might do is hurt mission diversity if people hunt for their fave maps. Which is, i believe,is one of their reasonings for not allowing custom map choice. Guess we shall see. Its not like you can’t already go a good stretch only playing the same map.
sorry according to Quickpaw, that screenshot is actually quite old and might not be relevant at all.
It would be great if a devlog or something similar gets released, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
The screenshot may be old, but they said in the devblog that (as we currently understand it) you will be able to choose any difficulty for any map currently on the board.
