But you… you couldnt leave well enough alone.
Ragers were fun to engage in melee but now they’re dodge backwards shoot in the head like every second enemy in this game.
They’re an actual threat when you don’t deal with them quickly now. Instead of being slow motion blenders that could be dodged indefinitely.
It’s a sensible change and j enjoy the new ranger patrols and rangers mixed into horde spawns in auric maelstrom a lot. It’s a fun change.
theyre exactly how they were before the penance patch. dodge backwards shoot zero gameplay.
TBH I don’t like the ‘will it blend’ approach but it does give niches to ‘counter’ weapons like the Catachan swords or stun mechanic ones like the new mauls.
That said getting 8 at once is kinda bs.
Ragers needed a buff. They were far to easy to deal with before and are once again a threat. They still don’t have tracking so you can dodge them. It makes impact blessings far more valuable as something that can stagger them out of attack animations. And it makes ranged characters far more valuable than before.
Now Scab Ragers need some sort of survivability buff to compensate for how much easier they are to deal with.
It’s always been more effective to fight ragers by shooting, the only way they can stop that is if they are given a lunge attack towards the player with a strong tracking period to punish spam dodging.
You can still fight a rager in melee, they just require a bit more effort and timing.
I’ve been honing my dueling sword psyker to try and chain headshots + dodging like a fencer. It’s still a work in progress tbh.
I love the difficulty increase, auric should be scary
Not true, they don’t have that insanely sticky tracking anymore. One or two are no threat close up, if you know how to melee and count your dodges.
A large pack will f you up. If you get them that close to you, that’s where mistakes were made.
It requires you to have more loadouts than “something to kill crushers”, since they’re a threat now as well. It adds variety to a stale end game.
Your alt staggers them. Stagger, heavy poke poke, dead, dodge, repeat. That’s the rhythm.
Haven’t had much luck with that yet but will try it next time I play. Thanks!
I agree, Aurics should be scary. But they could make Aurics more scary without fudging the difficulty all the way down and making everyone I know just stop playing out of irritation.
I mean friendos and I are just playing different games, but I wanted to stick with this one and now I don’t play. From the attitudes I’ve read of late I don’t actually expect any of the Auric-only players to care, but they should, since the earlier difficulties are where the player base grows from.
It takes some time getting used to. Especially since one mistake means you’re getting downed. I recommend giving it a go in the psykanium with 1 then, then 2 and later 3/4 to learn the rhythm.
The creature spawner is a godsend in that regard. 5 minutes of training can set you up so well it’s insane.
Edit:
On that note, I wish FS would implement Psykanium challenges for one time plasteel/diamantine rewards. Scaling with difficulty. Just so people learn the ins and outs of dealing with each elite/special.
They should of instead save the difficulty increase as T6 missions.
But T6 give same rewards as T5 - So then people who choose T6, do so for the challenge. Means new players won’t lose out materials by doing T5 and not force themselves to get more materials faster by playing beyond what they’re enjoying or comfortable with.
Going forward FS can tweak T6 for the “game is too easy” complaints and T6 players no longer need to worry about new players looking for a carry for materials gain.
It is similar to how it is for T5 vs T5 Auric - You still get an orange weapon anyway at the end. But obviously alot more dockets in Auric, but dockets are easy to come by. Plasteel well that road is long anyway regardless.
Are you trying to tell us that having to dodge 100 trappers in a single match is not actually fun?!?! I’ll hear nothing of it!
*sarcasm if none detected
Good idea
I’m not a massive fan of homogenous enemy patrols comprised of 10+ elite gunners or ragers, but I don’t mind the dreg ragers being made faster. Ability to dodge them made them less of a threat.
Auric getting achievements and the whole ‘you need to do most of these to get the final penance armor’ thing was a mistake imo.
Let the people who want an insane challenge play Auric without carrots.
You can actually get the 4500 points even if you skip all the auric damnation/maelstrom achievements.
If you get all the map achievements, which are simply a grind, you can reach it easily. It is a hell of a grind though.
Maniac Ragers now have their own identity and threat level separate from Armored Ragers. This is the same thing as learning how to deal with different hordes based on composition (scab, pox, groaners). I think it’s a fine change and people upset or struggling with it right now are experiencing growing pains.
