Ragers

I really love Ragers being undodgable I love hit track. its my favorite game mechanic ever please never stop forcing players to use ranged 90% of the time with ragers its PEAK gameplay. I really enjoy using flak maniac on every single weapon my smooth brain enjoys that.
Thanks

Why do people make posts like this? Do you just want to warp to the finish or something? None of what you posted is true and are massively skill issue revealing. Like you can dictate which of the patterns the rager will initiate on you. You can dodge them. A bunch of melee weapons out range them. You can block their attacks for nothing and stagger them with a weapon special on like anything but a weapon that activates.

All of this is still possible and are mainly because its supposed to be a threatening enemy and a check on the team’s efficiency, just like gunning down specialists. They are supposed to be threatening up close. It promotes teamwork and quickly bursting down incoming threats. None of the things that prevent you from just mashing attack and dodge all game are ‘bad designs’. Complaining about them is a ‘skill issue’.

I mean his entire post was sarcastic, so its possible it has zero effect anyway.

But yeah I mean unless you’re in a real pinch, team mates down and get swarmed by them they generally just sorta… die fast?

Krak grenades certainly levelled the playing field a bit too, as they stick quite nicely to the armoured ones.

Edit: I found I could drop them almost instantly with my nicely rolled Kantrael XII, and that was with a defensive middle tree vet build.

That’s kinda just an elites thing, and the game should really figure out the spawning and not flash mob you. Though I think flash mobs of bulwarks are usually worse. Ragers I think we have the most options for in that scenario. Its not like we get the VT2 smart game logic of not targeting you with multiple overheads anymore. Being walled in fat that just walked out of a door or fell off a rafter is worse…

My problem with Ragers is that their weapons extend far past their actual physical models. At least last I played. Is very annoying and frustrating gething hit by something that my depth perception told me shouldn’t have.

Not even exactly a balance issue, if they want them to have that range give them larger weapon models to match it.

I’m a bit of a rager myself

My own issues with ragers are twofold:

  1. the aforementioned ‘models don’t match their range’ problem. This is clearly something Fatshark needs to fix.

  2. The game director deciding to dump a dozen of them on you at once.

Otherwise? Either burst em down, dodge, use a grenade to stagger them, you have options.

Ha, that’s funny, I almost posted a similar topic today, you saved me typing.

Ragers and bulwarks aren’t fun to interact with. They are beaten only by Demonhost and followed by the Chaos Spawn’s grab which ignores dodges.

Ragers, especially in groups is where Tide melee mechanics fall apart. Bulwarks fail as enemies mainly in groups, due to the classic hyperdensity issues.

The Virgin Rager

  • “gRanDfATher, grANT meh teh toucH of dEfF”
  • runs at you in a derpy manner
  • unbelievable amounts of damage for a pointy stick
  • somehow completely immune to stagger
  • despite being a melee enemy, best shot at

The Chad Mauler

  • “For the GRRANDFATHER”
  • Menacing powerwalk that can keep up pace with everything else
  • Wields a chainaxe, rightfully obliterates you with it
  • Heavy armor justifies stagger resistance
  • Viable to get into melee combat with

Not sure if this is a mechanic in Auric missions but…sometimes my hit just miss and they connect all while my swings sometimes just go through them? or a week ago…i’m in another Auric …( Psyker btw) and i fighting off a mob and suddenly my heath just drops and im like " OK dude did i just get ghost zombie damage??

sure enough a RAGER just appears in front of me in the middle and it was HIM DOING ALL THE DAMAGE! saw i was actually able to dodge back( because when ragers swing i have NO stam to dodge NEVER… anyways i dodge back to make some sort of attempt to seek vengeance on this
ghost damaging SOB and HE DISAPPEARS!! -_-

i just left game and exited… for the past week ive been testing melee weapons to see whats good for clearing horde and dealing with those bastards!! right now as i type im trying to test the Cadia chainsaw sword and the Combat Blade V and try out this block attack…that someone mention in another post…

You can stagger them as ogryn, also with pushes, as other “classes” with some special attacks, force sword force push, shots etc, but it all falls apart when you have multiple ragers or if they are green (the worst part of that modifier is stagger immunity).

any person who designs any shield bearing enemies in a video game should be banned from making video games for 3 years.

Being faced with like a half dozen or more shields at the same time is the most build limiting GG of all to last alive. They cover each other perfectly when you’re only able to shoot a couple rounds or melee. Basically a check on whether or not you can ignore or knock aside shields (with like 10 ranged) or the class abilities you brought (blitz or ult). Such variety wow.

I’ve said from the start Bulwarks are the worst. On top of being more annoying than challenging and having awful movesets, the fact the shield hitbox is so incredibly God awful makes them even worse than they should be.

I’m fine with rager packs. It’s definitely a difficult encounter, but a skilled player can still solo them in melee given the right tools and being skilled enough, and is incredibly satisfying to do so. I wouldn’t want to remove them from the game, just give some light changes.

Bulwarks being removed would just make the game better.

UPDATE: My theory was Correct… "i was this old Today when i learned the block + Attack (i mean the counter attack that automatically happens when you hold block)works !! " i killed a few with my combat knife last night…it doesn’t have to be the combat knife BUT for me the Combat knife is totally official now…since i F#CK’d around and found out last night…DEVS i swear to Gawd!! if you nerf that because you read this !! …and now you wanna troll us and make our lives harder than it is!! OUR RELATIONSHIP IS OVER!! Trust me i got other game ho’s !!.. but i’ve been loyal!! To ya’ll and The Emperor !! so don’t try it!!

Devil claw deletes ragers.

Something with good stagger like ogryn shield or zealot crusher will also beat them safely but not as spectacularly.

Its not as bad as the ice skating maulers and crushers that fly accross the map charging their overheads, making it impossible to dodge coz they phase through eachother chaining the overheads. They should be WAY less mobile when doing an overhead that almost always one hits you on T5. Its called balancing have them slow for a powerful hit i know… a crazy concept balancing oooo scary. Also why does it seem to be the only attack they use, overhead overhead overhead can they do something else maybe? Its a chain axe thats supposed to saw through things and they just use it as a hammer?

Add hyperdensity issues, inherit from VT2 times, put some enemies inside few bulwarks, few specials / shotgunners which often totally ignore their mass when attacking and you have a recipe for undercooked gameplay. Easily one of the weakest parts of the core gameplay, except consistency, visibility and audio issues.

With the recent post about Gunners, my opinion is that people misunderstand the point of certain elements in the game. A Ragers purpose is to give you a “I can’t always melee my way through everything”, just as a Gunner is making sure you “can’t stand unphased at all times and shoot whatever you want”.

This is why Ragers are easily dealt with from range, and Gunners are easily dealt with from close quarters. It’s a mechanic, a video game element to overcome. To force the players to think, to watch their surroundings and work together. To make sure you can’t be a “one trick pony”.

I think it’s okay that people question the elements, but at the same time, as stated above, I think they misunderstand the purpose of said elements.
