We dont want "creative interpretation", we want a 1:1 recreation of popular in universe cosmetics

its no secret that about 90% of the premium store really sucks, its cosmetics look cheap and incredibly unsatisfying to look at and continuously go against what we want from the universe of 40k. the response to negative feedback is always met with “oh, well it clips so we have to make it look bad to work” or “the devs took creating liberties to create their own spin off fan favorites of 40k”.

we dont want cosmetics YOU think or want us to have…

when we say we wanted a krieger outfit we meant straight up a faithful krieger outfit thats accurate and well made but what we got was the ugliest version of the krieger set someone could think of.

when we say we want a scion armor, we dont want an ugly breastplate with massive elbow guards and no gloves not to mention the godawful choice to make the helmet have absolutely no kneckguard at all. we want a honest to god 1:1 scion set youd see if you just googled it.

we do not want your creative interpretations, we want faithful 40k gear and ones that look good too. we have to pay premium for these sets but none of them bar like one (that has yet to even be released, looking at you cadian carapce) are worth the money.

Pretty much.

If Fatshark is going to make money off of dressing up your characters, least it could do is acknowledge the intended audience is probably going to be very annoyed about changes from the source material, and put in effort accordingly.

I think you need to relax a bit. I see your point but I’ve no problem with them also inventing feasible in universe attire. I personally also like the Krieg set, but hey I’m no 40K expert at all. But yeah I suppose as a general rule, when you’re not making your own “made up” sets and are just emulating existing ones, you would probably want to make a 1:1 since they have the license to do so.

it doesn’t matter, the helgun lasers are the worst guns in the game and the look isn’t complete without it.

(not to mention DLC outfits make you stand out as someone that gave them money for cosmetics)

I don’t mind some creative interpretation. If an artist is well versed in and enthusiastic about the source material and has ideas on how to take it to the next level or a neat different take, that’s fine.

The Krieg Veteran however feels like a low-budget wannabe copy however pumped out to meet a deadline. The elements don’t look like the FW DKoK models, they look like a random comic-con cosplay mish-mash of various 20th century army surplus bits. On top of that, there were massive quality issues, comically oversized elements like the chest rebreather, web straps that are both lore incorrect and poorly modeled (why do they adhere to the back like a 90’s shooter texture, yet somehow oddly sit just above the coat without touching it?), clipping issues through arms and necks, etc. It was a low-effort approximation of the DKoK models, not a creative reinterpretation, and I’m not sure how it passed QA review.

That said, as I’ve noted elsewhere, often GW model are recreated in almost absurd detail in other media, including bits oversized for plastic durability or modeled to avoid undercuts and the like. It’s interesting that there’s so much variability in some of these cosmetics, but I have no idea what GW’s processes are like of late.

I’m sure Fatshark will pass this feedback on to their contracted artists

Honestly, if creative freedom means low effort like with the krieg set (and some others) I would prefer a 1:1 recreation.

If they want to be creative, then may they create new things, like the enforcer outfit or the inquisition uniforms for vet, which are cool. But when it comes to already stablished lore… no thanks, just do it exactly as it is in the minis or codexes.

If the artist/s lack the understandment of what makes the uniform of X faction, or what makes actual armor at all (as in the case of the tempestus chest piece) we end up with low quality cosmetics, which adds to the pile of frustration on this game. Why risk it with creative freedom?

ngl at first i thought no wonder the quality is bad, but then i looked these Adia guys out and they do good work
definitely had prejudices against them

makes you think if its just that they don’t know 40k or/and there’s failure in communication and lack of quality control

Seems like run of the mill mobile 3d art to me

Sorry if your a kasrkin fan you can’t look like a proper one in the licensed 40k guardsman game

You need to play call of duty instead

no dude, they’re reusing all the crap they’ve made for other games

Oh well, kinda was obvious that it’s all either junior freelancers or tencent affiliate, cause DT cosmetics not even close to some V2 sets.

There is no proper portfolio tho. DT is there in the projects, wonder what they’ve made fot it.

The difference enven with basic free sometics is gigantic, i refuse to believe it was made by the same people or atleast they were trying to achieve the same goal (there is no neck protection for GK too tho, lol)

Yes I like cool skins but at the end of the day, they’re skins. When the more serious issues will be fixed I can start thinking about that. But for now, this is far from being a pressing topic.

It’s not about priority, but about attitude.

The funniest thing - they are somewhat fast at fixing cosmetics/premium shops related things, so it’s important for them. Yet it still lacks quality, and there are always clipping issues.

So if their attitude towards the main income source like that, what can we expect?

The fact they are butchering iconic 40k things for cashgrab is a symptom of overall low quality.

I can agree 100% on the clipping issues. It feels as if I’ve read “Fixed X cosmetic clipping etc” a thousand times now. Just make it not clip in the first place. Seems like every cosmetic that releases will have to be fixed. And yeah probably because of me not knowing the source material well enough it doesn’t bother me as much when they don’t recreate a Krieg set perfectly. I think the Krieg set needs to be 1:1 but maybe some Astromilitarum things can have variations. After all it’s an empire that spans the galaxy, it’s bound to be that in some places there are variations or at least certain individuals are dressed in a different way.

i swear whenever someone gives feedback about cosmetics of any form theres always someone that tries to detract from the feedback and suggest its not worth the effort giving feedback for. im not saying the game is perfect and doesnt need work, emprah knows how starved we are of content. im giving feedback about things that should be better considering its their monetization model lmao.

Keep your hat on. I never said you shouldn’t give feedback. I was expressing my view on the topic.
