Also sometimes it won’t provide immunity from regular poxwalker’s melee attacks. I don’t know the specific conditions, but I noticed that I did not get the immunity from shooting a captain type boss (when the shield was down, I was landing crits and it took hp damage, but poxwalkers murdered me nonetheless)
Most attacks fall into the else there, which checks _melee_with_weapon_reach. It’s a bit complicated, but I believe all is_dodging does within that function is reduce the size of the cone in front of the enemy within which its melee attack will register a hit against a player.
In summary, if you are directly in front of an enemy, you will still take a hit even with Vulture’s Dodge (or Slippery Customer). If you’re moving away from the enemy’s attack, there’s a better chance you can avoid being hit than without those talents, but that’s nothing resembling the “immunity” referenced in the talent descriptions.
Yeah, you are right. I tested it in psikhanium and it does not protect you from melee attacks. It’s bizarre how I thought the reason I don’t take hits most of the time was the immunity when in fact I was just lazily dodging incoming hits.
And about slippery customer, I thought it was useless because of extremely short activation window. Turns out it just does nothing at all, excellent.
Too bad fatshark employees won’t read anything past the original post, they could find out how their game works. A missed opportunity.
