Veteran Needs Rework With New weapons

VERY fair. For me, I’d personally give Veteran a Hot-shot Volley Gun without a Backpack.

Fire Rate: About 6.35/s (halfway between the fastest-firing Infantry Lasgun and the slowest-firing Recon Lasgun) would be my preference.

Primary Action: Hip Fire.
Secondary Action: Braced Fire.

Give it the same approximate Dodge and Mobility Profile of a Plasma Gun. That is, fewer Dodges but more efficient Stamina consumption on Sprinting compared to Helbore. This is to show that it’s more “compact” than Helbore but still technically a “Heavy” Lasgun.

Give it good Suppression and decent Stagger (to differentiate from Infantry and Recon by giving the Hot-shot Las Bolts more observed “kick”), around the same Armour Penetration and Cleave as but not as much Damage as Helbore.

This thing will GUZZLE its Ammo to make up for its extra “punch”, however. Hot-shot Las Power Packs are SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive than standard Las Power Packs, so you’ll have to make do with a less “efficient” type of Las Weapon if you want to use a Hot-shot Volley Gun without its Backpack.

I always forgetting about this version. Mostly bc this is part of the Tempestus Aquilons armoury. Their war gear is several grade above of our rejects. Maybe this version would be the best for DT.

To be honest I wish they implement the backpack version.

Why?

Well, if they can give us the that. They can implement this for the zeloth.

Skeletor Laughing Out Loud

“Rejects” is now an obsolete classification for our Characters ever since Fatshark shifted the story to accommodate us being Inquisitorial Acolytes instead, therefore making the difference back up a fair bit. The “Rejects” are mostly dead or have turned traitor by this point in Darktide’s story and that’s why we’re now recruiting Hive Scum. Heck, the Hive Scum that we play as are actually high-ranking Cartel Officers and prominent Bounty Hunters, rather than just any Hive Gangers.

People also just tend to underestimate Veteran’s power scaling as a Class because there’s a misconception that Veterans are simply Guardsmen. Veterans are comprised of Sergeants and Weapons Specialists, with the proof of this being their universal access to Power Weapons and Plasma Weapons.

Veterans are closer in rank to the Karnak Twins than they are to Guardsmen, for reference.

It’s even hinted that the Cadian Personalities for Veteran are former KASRKIN. Kasrkin ARE on the same power level as Tempestus Scions, simply being their Cadian equivalent.

If a Veteran goes to Hadron to requisition a Hot-shot Las Weapon, Hadron’s just going to dap them up and then say:
“Yeah, I can hook you up… but I can’t justify giving you too many spare Power Packs. Deal?”

We are legendary soldiers

Something rare

We have been threw hell

We have taken a whole army of cultists and moebian 6th

And something big is happening with the shambling horrors event

It’s time we get a upgrade and cause hell :fire:

To be fair veteran has also awful stamina and stamina regen. Which is quite important in most builds

For some reason you seem bent on disparaging the power sword, prolly becasue you couldnt make it work. Veteran’s power sword in my opinion is one of the more complex weapons in Dark Tide, but its complexity is not apparent. Its complexity is not in very complicated combos beside the “secret” combo after the block, but in making it work with the relative fragility of vet and need to activate the weapon. To fight hordes on higher difficulties , you need aspecial rythm, with pushing and activating and moving. It took me weeks (granted i play mostly only weekends and 1-2 evening during week) of learning to really make it work. The “secret” combo also takes a while to develop muscle memory to use in high stress situations, like fighting multiple crushers at conce

By the way

I can’t wait to play darktide with dlss 5 :skull:

Thoughts? Talent trees should offer distinct multiple playstyle options per class, without MAINLY focusing on stackable damage / survivability buffs.

I agree

That’s why we should have things like

A grenadier or engineers :collision::bomb::firecracker: :wrench::hammer_and_pick:

That focus on crowd control for hordes with explosives or stunning enemy or fortifications to slow enemies down like spike traps , turret to suppress with you choosing what blitzes you pick and tinker with them:collision::hammer_and_pick:

A Commissar :sparkles:

A born leader that’s gives team certain buffs that you pick and makes a big difference to your team and self and increase morale

Sharpshooter :bullseye:

A damage range dealer for big targets like crushers and bosses , elites etc and gives team intel where high value targets are at

Cuirassier :man_guard:

Focus on melee combat charging into front enemy lines and stunning them or causing fear to trash mobs to cower or run away to cause enemy to have decreased in morale

Along with these we should get rework with new nodes that can synchronize with different play styles with new weapons

Like

Grenade launcher

Melta gun

Flame thrower

spear

Hotshot

New blitzes or rework blitzes
Rework nodes or added new nodes

Etc added to veterans and other classes

Along side reworked old weapons like autoguns and 2nd bolter explosive versions and chainsaw weapons

These will make veterans more fun to play with more build depth and will be fresh to see without seeing the same builds over again

And then changing the tide of the battle depending on what they bring

Commissars are on the same level as a Captain, whereas Veterans are on the same level as a Sergeant.

VoC Veterans are Squad Leaders, and they do basically the same thing as a Commissar would.

Yeah, if this was firebreak…

Lmao :skull:
