Versus Dead?

Damn thats a shame. Was a fun concept even if i only played it a few times cuz pc exclusive. I know the game itself is doing okay at least in the xbox. Find lobbies pretty regularly, wonder if VS would have done better on other platforms?

No matter how much effort is put into fixing Versus at this point, it’s unlikely that players will ever come back in numbers that feel satisfying. VT2 is simply too old of a title, and its concept just doesn’t fit PvP in the first place. On top of that, most cheaters get their tools from sellers, and a half-baked implementation of something like EAC is nowhere near enough to stop them.

I was a naysayer, but I came to enjoy versus, mainly playing the rats.

Still, they never implemented fair matchmaking, and there’s not enough players for ladder, haven’t found a game in months, I try about once every couple weeks when I play

Ill be honest, i was a naysayer too. I generally hate pvp in games but the couple times i played VS when i was on PC, playing as the rats was just too fun. Really im not sure if i enjoyed the pvp of it or just playing as the rats. A…counter campaign could be a thing…overtake helmgart?

If they fixed the mode, and then gave huge rewards for start playing again, then people will come back

And if the mode is fixed as mentioned before, they’ll stay

Ok, but how does one fix Versus.

Hopefully Versus virtually failing cause them to not try Darktide Versus.

Better hero balance
Better default ruleset
Disable the possibility to queue in a group in Quickplay and/or split the members of a group in both teams

so fatshark was right all along?

This is why there was such a lackluster response to its announcement. Literally everyone could see the writing on the wall for this even before they announced it.

Darktide verses has the opportunity to be 1) the most entertaining thing ever 2) the worst thing ever. Both at the same time.

I posted about it too, in “Versus feedback”.

Oh, I haven’t checked there. I just noticed a few months ago I wasn’t able to find a match, and now it’s completely dead.

The only cosmetic DLC I didn’t get was the Versus rats, because I wanted to see if this mode would even work.

It was fun while it lasted, but they never were serious about making versus good.

There’s a ton of feedback about how unfair the game mode is, especially without matchmaking, and with snowball mechanics. The hero team with recruit difficulty and no weapons to optimize made it so that only a handful of careers/builds were worth a damn.

The worst thing was when teams of blue to orange ranks like a group of friends would curb stomp everyone. When you’re taking damage as the heroes, or dealing more damage as the rats, there’s more hordes, thus making it even harder for the heroes and easier for the rats. Conversely, if you’re unable to deal much damage to a fast moving team of good hero players, as the rats you get longer respawn timers and you get no hordes to call in. This makes it so that the imbalance of skill between teams and between teammates is massively magnified.

Basically, if you’re new and suck at versus, as the heroes, you’ll face constant hordes with elites, and as the rats, you’ll rarely get to play because of respawn timers and the heroes unhindered by hordes will just fly through the mission.

If you’re good at versus, and a seasoned player, you’ll just rush through the mission sniping the enemy players or even ignoring them taking little damage.

Then as the rats, this is where I had the most fun just sadistically torturing new players with rat traps.

Also, people could just drop out and so 9/10 games was just a lobby emptying right away.

Agree.

I still like it.

But is mostly dead.

I see games sometimes.

I stopped playinv Vermintide 2, except for Versus, but sometimes I join and there are zero players on it.
