45 minutes? Jeez, sorry but my attention span isn’t long enough to fini
Well, it is immeasurably complex.
tbh his humor had me hooked pretty fast.
I did not watch the whole video but what “gets” me is this “VT2 was bad in the beginning and therefore DT will naturally also be good in due time” argument.
This basically negates all learning experiences that should have happened in this studio. They used a lot of assets from VT2 and are very familiar with the concept. There should be some sort of a learning curve that releases get better and better but with DT I have the feeling that this could have been easily their first Tide game in the series.
And it couldn’t have been that they had a huge “brain drain” because some of the things that made the other Tide game so unbelievably beloved and good are still there. Hard things that you just don’t pick up on the fly. Like the combat… understanding the setting of Warhammer…
Nice one, honest, with enough edge and funny, at times.
What is interesting, is the phrase “Darktide doesn’t respect your time”. This is definitely the conclusion I arrived myself after few hundred hours spent in the game
Might check out ssethtzeentach then, because thats where he got hit shtick from.
This is the thing for me as well, I just don’t think I buy that line this time. There’s a reddit post I’ve been seeing on here a lot today where the guy outlines a list of development problems FS has had since their very first games, problems that are popping up again with Darktide.
With live service games requiring a more steady drip of new content (and I don’t just mean premium cosmetics) to maintain their life cycles, I think FS’s usual move of “months of complete radio silence until the console version drops” is gonna create more ill-will toward the company than normal. How many more players are they willing to lose before they realize this is a fundamental problem with their dev cycle that needs to be changed or else it will eventually cause them to go under? I doubt Tencent is as trigger happy as a company like EA but you gotta wonder how FS’s new investors are looking at the situation.
Dude lost all credibility when he diagnosed other gamers with mental illness for spending at a cash shop. Purchases are optional. You consumed a video game, now you’re surprised there are other things that don’t come with with your purchase? Now you’re mad that others will buy it because they like something? Calling player’s entire lives into question? Seems like something, a very angry and jealous person would do.
He wasnt calling you mentally ill and he wasnt saying people who use the cash shop are mentally ill, unless you consider yourself “a person who spends an inordinate, unreasonable amount of money on MTX in videogames”. If you took offense at that and considered it a personal attack towards you then that’s more of a problem on your end.
I mean he even explicitly prefaced it with saying he has no issues with and has bought from MTX stores that only sell cosmetics, referencing both TF2 and VT2 as examples… How did you end up writing this comment?
I personally cant watch his videos due to how he basically just took another youtubers developed persona and added a bells and whistles to it.
It just feels like he is trying to feed off another persons hard work so he does not have to to the legwork himself.
Probably just being hyperbolic for a joke, it’s part of the performance.
I love his Cheeseburger analogy for hunting for weapons but its even worse!
Imagine walking into McDonalds to buy a cheeseburger. You look at the menu and it shows :
Cheeseburger (no pickles)
Big Mac (no cheese)
Qtr Pounder (no meat)
Cheeseburger (no cheese)
Cheeseburger (no meat)
Big Mac (no meat)
Qtr Pounder (no meat, uncooked)
Big Mac(no meat, no pickled, uncooked)
Cheeseburger (no cheese, uncooked)
Cheeseburger (uncooked)
Menu will change in 1 hour
So you really want a full cheeseburger, so your only option is to buy the uncooked cheeseburger at the bottom. You buy it and the cashier directs you over to a cooking station where you can cook that Cheeseburger for a little bit of money. You head over there and put your Cheeseburger in. After a minute you take your cheeseburger out and magically it now has a slice of beetroot on it. you hate beetroot
If we weren’t charged a purchase price for the game, the hate towards the cash store would not be nearly as strong.
funny ass video
this might actually be a good explanation of everything wrong with the game if the devs care to watch it
is sharpshooter really that op? it can’t do melee better than the melee classes no way
psyker is potato yeah
it has regressed in many ways from vermintide
Doesnt touch on the lack of free cosmetics or penance design, its hard to make thorough lists because there’s just so many problems lol
If you weren’t charged? You think Games Workshop is giving away WarHammer licensing away for free? Interesting.
If you paid $40 to walk into that McDonalds.
No, I think that it’s reasonable for games to use one monetisation strategy. Either charge up front and not use microtransactions or go F2P and have them. Using both is excessive and greedy and the anger towards it is justified.
