At first, I wanted to put it to Gameplay Feedback one day, but it’s not clear if it’s even checked, and also I’ve been irritated by it so much lately (has been experimenting with new builds), so that I think now it’s an UI issue.
The problem is illustrated on the attached picture. I simply need to select another one of the mutually exclusive Blitzes in the Tree. Both builds would require exactly the same number of points, but the tree just won’t allow me to select another talent, I have to clear EVERYTHING after it, and only then I can switch them. It gets extremely frustrating when you need to do it often (when experimenting)
Solution: just allow to select another mutually exclusive talent in the case depicted on the picture, as it doesn’t result in an invalid “route” through the tree in any way. Even better: allow to deactivate ANY node on the tree, even in the middle of the “route” - and just don’t persist the result until a valid route is rebuilt; highlight invalid parts of the tree with red and display a warning if player wants to leave the screen before achieving a valid build.
Steps to Reproduce (Required):
Build any full Ogryn build that goes from top to bottom of the tree.
Try to change the type of Blitz it has to any other option, without resetting the whole nodes of the tree beneath it.
Mutually exclusive nodes cannot be swapped between even with that mod, iirc.
EDIT: Either it’s not been a feature sicne day 1 or it’s been a feature and I’ve just never figured out that double-clicking allows for swapping of mutually exclusive talents. Either way, the mod allows for such an improvement
Similar to the bug where if you re-spec the tree (or part of it) and then immediately click the loadout screen (without pressing ESC first) the talent changes WON’T BE SAVED. You need to close out of the entire menu for your talent changes to be saved. This bug has been around since at least 2023 and Acknowledged in 2024 according to the search function results in this forum.
Oh crap, so I wasn’t imagining things before, because several times after doing some changes to talents as usual, I saw them not applied. I started to question myself at some point lol
Having to redo the entire tree to change one thing at the top is REALLY annoying, and I think they should just not have a point limit while you’re editing. Just make the build invalid until you get it to 30 points, but allow freedom to click whatever you want while you’re editing.
removing from the top and adding to the bottom, or switching stuff out, you can’t though, if they’re connected to other nodes down the line. Which means you need to redo the entire tree sometimes to change one thing. That’s a dumb design and makes experimentation annoying.
