I see what youre doing fatshark. Slowly creeping the power lvl up, but ffs just rip the band-aid off. We dont need another 3 months of careful monitoring for you to inevitably learn players wont be satisfied with it.
350 + at lvl 30 should be BASELINE for stat distro.
I would like to agree but I simply don’t. I agree that the current issue and the current “fix” or fine-tuning is ridiculous, but upping the bar to 340/350/360/370 will just mean slightly better odds. It will be the same gamble without any reliable progress.
I would kind of be fine with keeping the level at 280 (or lower/whatever the minimum is) but instead make sure that you always get seomthing better than what you have (e.g. based on weapon model). This would of course be immeasurably complex to implement for grey weapons, but suggestion being either a) always a higher modifier score, or b) always a higher total level score when fully upgraded (would affect perks and blessing tiers as well, would also affect curios if allowed to).
Would option “b” eventually give you “god rolled” weapons?
Yeah, sure.
Would it still give the grinders something to work towards?
Certainly.
Would it solve the RNG problem?
Yes.
Would it make it less annoying when FS decides to raise the total modifier score to 400/460/etc. (if they do)?
Yes, but raising the total modifier score would still be immeasurably annoying if done using any iteration of the current “progression” loop.
I like this mechanism
to keep a little RNG (because FS love RNG) that can be : total level score scalled on the current equipement (the current weapon mark include) with a minimum minus 10-20 on the current score.
With that, if my character have currently in the inventory a bolter with 370 overall score and a revolver with 350. the shop propose me at minimum 360/350 or more for Bolter and 340-330 or more for revolver.
We keep grind mechanism for each equipment : it’s not because I have one weapon at the maximum I can have all weapon at the maximum. I must grind each of them.
The only interrogation is : how manage the curios ? I don’t know if we have really “family”/mark on the curios.
In Vt2 it was something like +/- 5 power level for grey - orange weapons, so the idea is probably not entirely foreign to them.
If the level (or expected level) of the total weapon/curio is determined while the weapon is grey, it will also determine in what level range perks and blessings will be. There might be more to it, and curio stats aren’t exactly intuitive, but it should follow a similar pattern to the weapons.
