Tried awhile ago to get fixes, game still crashes, any new advice available?

Issue Type (Required):

Crash - on Launch

Issue Description (Required):

Still get the same crash error.
I have uninstalled all old & reinstalled newest version of the C++ redistributables.
I have done a clean reinstall of my graphics drivers.
I have disabled Steam Cloud Saving.
I have deleted the Appdata.
I have verified the integrity of game files.

The launcher opens, I press start, and the screen flashes black. In Steam, it shows the game is running, but there’s no game window, nothing is open in the taskbar. The task manager doesn’t show the game running, though.

After I close the game in Steam, I try launching it again, the launcher opens, I press start, the screen flashes black, and nothing. Not even Steam shows the game running.

I was seeing if there was anything new that might help me resolve this issue.

[PC] Do You Use Mods? (Optional):

No, I don’t use mods

Platform (Required):

PC - Steam

[PC] Crash Report (Optional):

GUID: 8a460ec8-dff7-4e10-b1f4-af09fc2c4485
Log File:
Info Type:

[Engine Error]: Unhandled exception (0xe06d7363) in build 36d861c1223089ed889da070b9a1d85f354f07ac

The issue could be related to the following modules found in the stack trace:
module ‘msvcp140.amd64’.
module ‘sl.interposer’. This module is related to Nvidia streamline sdk. If this is a recurring issue disable features related to it and see if that helps.
module ‘unknown_module’.

There still seems to be either a driver issue or DLSS / Frame Generation conflict, could you check that you have all these options disabled?:

Yes, all of those are disabled.

Have you deleted your Nvidia shader cache? The proper way that requires at least 2 reboots? I highly recommend trying it as it helped my game a lot

Tried that, still crashes, same errors.

I don’t really have a whole lot of help I could provide in this situation, BUT as an absolute last resort you could try reinstalling windows, or whatever operating system you have. The reason I say this is because an IRL friend of mine was having similar issues but with the game Left 4 Dead 2, the game just would not start, tried everything from reinstalling steam, updating drivers, trying to start the exe as an admin, etc etc etc. He tried everything we could think of multiple times but the game just would not properly start, so as a last resort we figured a windows reinstall/pc factory reset would fix the issue(im not sure exactly how he went about it) but pretty much after reinstalling windows and reinstalling steam and all that stuff, the game was able to start with no problems.

We have no idea why or even what caused the issue in windows to begin with, or even how an issue with windows can cause a random game on your pc to just never boot up… but a fresh start was able to fix his issue somehow.

and the issue was only with Left 4 Dead 2, literally every other game on his pc would start and run just fine, any of em. but not l4d2, until a fresh OS install

I can see if our Engine Developers have any additional ideas but the idea above of reinstalling Windows is worthwhile. I appreciate that’s a lot of work, so I can still help with a refund if preferred.

Doing a full re-install for a game feels a little overkill, especially if there’s no guarantee that it will fix the issue. I’d like to hear if the engine developers have any ideas. If I need to give you anything about my rig, let me know.
