Option 1 would make either blessing mandatory which would feel bad.
Option 2 sounds like a lot of work and has potential for then to miss the mark on the rebalance which in turn would take a lot of time to then get right the next time etc.
Option 3 does sound the easiest to implement and makes powercycler-playstyle a choice. It does however have a “problem”: getting the heatbar and not using PC, gives you an extra blessing slot too.
Maybe you were right with PC giving you stronger empowered attacks and the heatbar version needing weaker attacks. At that point, I’d ask for sunder to give it’s damage bonus to light attacks too so you can have sunder instead of PC for a heatbar version with equal/similar power.
The baseline would then need to be lowered by an amount that sunder could compensate for.
Still makes option 3 the most appealing to me
Option 4 would still present with issues from the other points. It’s not better like I said it might be, it’d just be different.
Independent of the way of its implementation, getting the heat mechanic on the power sword would probably require a rebalancing of the empowered attacks (when using the heat mechanic) anyway.
I know this thread is only about Veteran’s Power Sword, but yah know I’m not going to complain if Ogryn’s Power Maul got touched up a littlea lot, a whole lot, just the most touching possible.
I feel that 1 and 2 are not good options.
Must say also that, currently, PS is just garbage cause of the bug that makes you loosing charges when hit (at least, last time I tried it was here and I have see no patch note about this).
This could be acceptable. The contrary would work also. Make power cycler transforming the PS to get heat mechanic. But in this hypothesis they should rename the blessing for something else. And they could even add a power cycler blessing, something that reduces the heat produced by the sword.
But in my mind, giving the heat mechanic to the H1 Vet PS and allowing Power cycling to reduce the heat produced (like heatsink / energy transfer on relic blade) would make sense with its name. Also, it would give this weapon the possibility to build it without power cycler.
But I can understand that several prefers how the PS is working actually, and don’t want change. Anyways, a relic blade should not be necessarily a power sword.
But, to be honest, what amazes me is that I would have not ever think that there would be players that were enjoying so much the gameplay “I have to click special every 3 seconds”.
And mantling over the wall to get out and around the group
Yes, there are tools that can save you. No, that doesn’t mean you always have them available. And your answer better not be that you hold onto your grenades or shout until this happens to you.
That’s happend to me, it’s happend to you too.
It’s never happend to me with a knife or DS though.
it doesn’t come from all skill levels. it comes from all levels of crutch-holding. nobody that didn’t need the sword to carry them cared and the forums were filled with threads where they got told as much. but bad players that think they’re good don’t stop crying about losing the things that carry them until they get them back.
very bad players tend to think they’re very good players because the first thing a bad player does is assume they’re blameless.
saying it came from all skill levels is also a flat lie. it was unskilled players clinging to the unbalanced sword to let them play higher level stuff for the idea of sounding good.
And dismissing the whole situation as “only the people that crutched on a bugged, OP weapon complained”, when I know for a fact that that’s actually wrong, is insanely reductive and idiotic.
Again, you could make the weapon be just as powerful, aka. be just as much of a crutch, if you got the right blessings!
Who would complain about having their crutch taken away when it still existed for those that had the right blessings? Oh right, those that didn’t have the right blessings! It’s almost like I said this before and it’s almost like you keep ignoring hat fact.
This is already enough to out your take as objectively false.
Yes, people probably certainly complained due to their crutch being taken away from them. It’s not immediately obvious by looking at a thread because nobody would frame it that way but let’s just say that happend and that’s the reason for their complaint.
For the sake of argument, let’s also say that those complaints are relevant to the topic of balance-feedback.
We both know they’re not but let’s do so anyways.
They were not the only complaints.
That’s a fact.
Your take is still false.
The only legitimate, and therefore relevant, complaints came from those complaining for any other reason than the one you keep spouting to be the only reason.
I’m sorry it was so annoying to you, seeing so many threads about “give me my crutch back!?!” but saying they were the only form of complaints…
It’s hard to put into words, just how delusional of a take this is.
