I’d really like to see the flamer be made available to the veteran, it is by no means rare for imperial guard units to have flamers in them.
Lastly (trying to keep this short), I’d like to see a 2 new marks for the weapon.
A “heavy” flamer that has a longer range, and applies more burn to the target it hits with the cloud. The cloud is more narrow, and you have less ammo, but this stream of fire also applies its burn for longer, meaning it is good against monsters, elites, and such. Has to charge up pressure before letting the fire steam fly.
A “light” flamer that has more ammo, and is ready to fire almost instantly after taking it out. It has a small magazine, but it has no delay in shooting (semi auto when just clicking). Add in a much wider flame cloud and this flamer would be ideal for crowd control.
While flamers are certainly Guard weapons, I’m not sure they’d terribly useful for the Veteran class.
Flamers are great for horde clearing, but not terribly great at dealing with specialists/elites and ranged threats, which is what the Vet really is there to deal with, and there’s not a lot in the talent tree that works with it well.
The current iteration also is a little wonky, it’s usefulness is limited and it’s ungainly to wield, it’s hard to find consistent utility in its use. I think that’d need to be addressed first before adding new models, and with how awful crafting and gear acquisition is currently it’s hard to get excited about new additions.
Would love to see a Heavy Flamer eventually if the rest gets sorted out at some point.
