i think it’s the style you have to take with fatshark. in the dev interviews he has with the game design lead he exclusively throws softball questions.
some interesting info still comes out of these, so it’s not like i’m mad. he knows that the moment he asks something like “will we ever be able to pick our missions?” he’s never getting an interview again, so it is what it is.
I hate how at first he and other Darktide youtubers were justyfying Skitarii being added to Darktide and after they were added they are now going: “They added Skitarii so that means FatShark are broadening their horizon on what they could add to the game, let’s see them add Sister’s of Battle! Sure they are overpowered with the power armor but they added Skitarii so clearly they are open to add more powerful stuff!”
That’s pretty much what they were saying in Jeficus’s most recent class speculation video and it just pisses me off.
Weren’t Skitarii added because, in canon, they fit powerscale–wise and isn’t that the very reason you people used to justify why adding Skitarii could work? But now you do a 180* and act like it justifies adding ridiculously overpowered stuff like Sister’s of Battle? And they already ask for a Chaos Marine boss battle, don’t you people have enough powercreep already? What’s going to be next, justifying adding playable Space Marines after this? After all “FatShark added all this other super powerful stuff, that we definitely didn’t act like it is similar to the rejects power–wise, so clearly they are open to adding this!”?
Get outta here with this manipulative nonsense! I’m sick of this constant switch–ups in their narratives to fulfil their won personal wants and needs. Leave Darktide alone already, damn!
Long story short, prior to the release of the Skitarii, several content developers accidentally posted screenshots from the Fatshark Playtester Discord (which is confidential and subject to strong NDA).
So, the majority of the regular playtesters we know and love lost their playtester status.
I know this because I was wondering why Skitarii, one of the most awaited classes ever, had three playtesters live gaming on Twitch but the typical big names did not stream for the whole weekend.
At first, I thought it was because it was midsummer weekend, but it simply felt strange since why would just three people broadcast what was the most anticipated?
I initially assumed it was because it was the weekend of midsummer and people were too busy with family and partying to stream, but it just seemed weird that only three people streamed what was the most anticipated release in a long time.
I did some research and got confirmation, and later a content creator/playtester confirmed here on the forum that the theories were true.
So what? Is FatShark now going to replace all these playtesters with new people who have no experience with Darktide and it’s balance? I hope not and that the old people who did a MISTAKE will get the job back because most playstesters, I heard, beg for nerfs to the OP outliers. If they are gone who will opppse the “no nerfs only buffs because that’s fun and definitely not increasing powercreep” mentality now?
I still don’t understand why people desire this; what does a SoB do differently than Zealot?
I’m not talking about equipment because we won’t be rolling around in power armor and all that snazz, but what exactly is the gameplay difference between a Zealot and a Sororitas?
I’ve seen some folks on the forum discuss the introduction of faith mechanics and such, but Chorus is already a faith mechanic, in my opinion.
Sororitas feels like it would be a sub-class of Zealot and not a full-fledged own class and BTW are only made up by women and except for Ogryn; every other class have both genders or had a gender once like Skitarii.
Like; I really want Sword and Shield for Zealot so I can cosplay a Crusader, but I don’t need a whole new class to roll a Crusader, I only need the weapon added for Zealot.
Some of them confirmed that they will receive their playtester status back at a later date, but are in a “time out” for the time beign.
I guess it depends on the circumstances of each case, and whether the leaks were real human mistakes (fleshbag error) or outright straight fk ups by the playtesters.
What I fear is that a Sister of Battle class is just resources taken away from the neglected Zealot class.
All this time and this class still doesn’t even have a unique passive. They could take the “Every 3 minutes I can take lethal damage and not die” tax node from the tree and just make it a passive yet they still didn’t. And if they add Sisters of Battle before that and, worse yet, give her new weapons that the Zealot could have recieved instead, I think people could start calling me a Scab from the Moebian Sixth with all the hatred, bitterness and betrayal I’d feel.
Took a survey. Logged in to an empty mission board. Then went flying in a havoc game due to a barrel…
Let them know how you feel. Expiditions still suck, new enemies are annoying as heck, too many enemies already, skitarius ok, love the combat, absolutely love the ascetic, most level design is good, etc.
Moar feedback! More banans! More rewards! Never ever introduce a season pass, ever. Stick to penance updates and more unique things that keep this game a beautiful gem! Moar in-game cosmetics! I’ll pay you banans for cool cosmetics but unique cosmetics, armor, weapon skins, portrait frames, etc. are what keep me playing. You start handing them out for banans seasonally or for no effort, personally, I stop playing.
This game is like the dark souls of coop. Don’t ruin it. Love you fatshark! Here is a banan for your time.
I happy the lore gatekeeping is broken now we can have some really fun classes added. Also shows how powerful the baseline rejects really are now if getting through the campaign, mortis trials, expeditions and Havok wasn’t proof enough.
Hell no. Us doing all these feats shouldn’t be encouraged. I was already hoping they won’t go any higher than killing a goddamn Beast of Nurgle.
If they genuinely have us fight a Chaos Marine in the future, I’m gonna flip a table.
Do it in Space Marine 2 a game about fighting wordly threats like this. Not a game that’s supposed to be about a human story and a horrific war that’s just a drop in the Ocean that is Imperium of Man.
With how deliberately vague FatShark is with this stuff this could mean anything. And even if it is supposed to mean Chaos Space Marines, it doesn’t mean it’s confirmed we’ll fight one.
It’s just like Eldar. Their presence in the story doesn’t mean we’ll be seeing them with our own eyes and fighting alongside them in the future.
It feels like FatShark also has a tendency to abandon their storylines they themselves have set up. Brunt? Anyone?
Yep they have plenty of room to work with, so non-committal and slow they are until they release something new. Even in latest interview dev has learned to not even let the hints out anymore.
Brunt was mentioned to be out in Expedition area before we arrive but ship dialog keeps going in circles about Brunt missing.
Well this just underlines the vagueness of FatShark not only in their story bits but also in the way the present said story bits.
I had no idea this dialogue is in the game. Probably because it’s in a dead gamemode no one plays.
But also this virtually tells us nothing. “Brunt was here” whopdie do, this tells us so much and definitely pushes this plotline forward. Move along with this storybit already!
Yeah no, all of this is wrong. For one, Mr. E is the one you’re talking about, and he got in trouble for something about the NDA for media build early access/the content creator discord for FS. This has little to nothing to do with playtesters and the stuff they work with. None of the playtesters have been removed from the program, as far as I’m aware.
For two, Jefficus is not and has never been a playtester. He’s a content creator in the space and regularly gets media build access for marketing pushes, but that is very different from being a playtester.
For three, the reason Skitarii had such a scuffed media push is something internal to FatShark. No one publicly knows anything about it, and anyone telling you they are is either lying or breaking a confidentiality agreement somewhere. I have a guess for what happened, but nothing to really back that up and it’s just wild speculation. No one is confirming anything about how that works though.
