The Zealot's talent tree actually only has 7 to 11 talent points!

The balance and design of the zealot talent tree is lopsided in a way that always funnels players into picking ‘mandatory’ talents. What some may not realize is just how many talent points are eaten up by these. Just look at this:


Before any other talents are even considered these 15-17 points, depending on which ability you use, are always allocated the same way.


Furthermore, an additional 4-6 points, depending on ability chosen, are always spent like this.

This leaves only 7-11 talent points left for actual choice and build diversity. Illusion of choice at its finest…

Yep Zealot also has the least amount of total talent options 73 to 93, 98 and Ogryn’s new 94. I hope they are next rework simply to add more choice and less funnels

No, the illusion is that those talents are mandatory. They’re definitely not mandatory, and it’s a good thing that the tax nodes exist as they are.

Crit zealot is one of the strongest archetypes in the game, so comparing it against the other options is going to almost always be a “loss” taking something else. That said, zealot needs a few tweaks but power creep is definitely a real issue so tweaks should be done carefully.
